These clips were taken from our "Three Guitars" improvisation recorded on the 24th of September 2021. The title comes from the fact that many of the sounds featured in the jam come from sounds kindly provided by two experimental guitarist/sound designers: Roland Reinke, aka @encym, and Turu Ibe, aka @drunkenforest, from Germany and Japan respectively. Si completed the trio of guitarists with some of his own heavily treated guitars!

Wiersz Bolesława Leśmiana, który stanowił inspirację dla tego wydawnictwa towarzyszył mi przez kilka miesięcy stając się punktem wyjścia dla stworzenia muzyki mogącej stanowić soundtrack dla podróży przez bór, który opuszcza dziwaczne zwierzę powołane do życia przez poetę, jak również dźwiękową interpretację uczuć znajomych współczesnemu człowiekowi: chaosu, bezradności, prób zrozumienia otaczającej rzeczywistości - niezwykle złożonej i dynamicznie się zmieniającej - i odnalezienia się w niej na wielu płaszczyznach.

Od strony muzycznej wszystkie utwory powstały na drodze eksperymentu i improwizacji z użyciem cyfrowego, analogowego i akustycznego instrumentarium.

The poem by Bolesław Leśmian, which inspired this album, accompanied me for several months, becoming the starting point for creating music that could become a soundtrack for traveling through the forest, which is being left behind by the bizarre animal brought to life by the poet, as well as a sound interpretation of the feelings familiar to modern people: chaos , helplessness, attempts of understanding the surrounding reality - extremely complex and dynamically changing - and finding our place in it in many aspects.

On the strictly musical side, all tracks were created through experimentation and improvisation using digital, analog and acoustic instruments.

The meaning of Âkâsha derives from a description that I found in the book Raja-Yoga And Patanjali's Yoga Aphorisms written by Swami Vivekananda in 2012:

“The whole universe was composed of two materials, one of which is called Akasha. It is the omnipresent, all-penetrating existence. Everything that has form, everything that is the result of combination, is evolved out if this Akasha. It is the Akasha that becomes the air, that become the liquids, that becomes the solids; it is the Akasha that becomes the sun, the earth, the moon, the stars the comets; it is the Akasha that becomes the human body, the animal body, the plants, every form that we see, everything that can be sensed, everything that exits; it can not be perceived, it is so subtle that it is beyond all ordinary perception; it can only be seen when it has become gross, has taken from. At the beginning of creation there is only this Akasha. At the end of the cycle the solids, the liquids, and the gases all melt into the Akasha again, and the next creation similarly proceeds out if this Akasha”.

This became a source of inspiration for a new work, exploring continuous interwoven sonic entities of gradually changing timbre based on textile patterns. My intention was to create distinct patterns of timbre, which develop from one noisy material into seven independent timbral layers, later transforming into one monolithic soundscape.

The work is dedicated to Anton Lukoszevieze.

Helga Arias Parra (born in Bilbao, Spain) studied composition with Mario Garuti (Conservatorio G.Verdi Milan) and Beat Furrer (Kunsuniversität Graz) and computer music with Javier Torres Maldonado (Conservatorio A. Boito Parma) and Karlheinz Essl (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien). 

Besides, she has received individual lessons from other composers such as Michael Jarrell, Kaija Saariaho, J.B. Barrière, Georg Friedrich Haas, Pierluigi Billone, Isabel Mundry, Mark André, Toshio Hosokawa or Alberto Posadas among others and participated in masterclasses with Helmuth Lachenmann, Wolfgang Rihm, Philippe Manoury, José María Sánchez Verdú, Trevor Wishart or Daniel Teruggi.


She has been awarded in the international contest “Città di Udine”, the  RCSM Victoria Eugenia de Granada contest for Symphonic Orchestra, the shut up and listen! Electroacustic festival in Vienna or the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik Competition 2014.

Her music has been performed in several festivals and music halls such as the Donaueschinger Musiktage (Next Generation), Manifeste Paris, Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, EMUFEST  Rome, Klangwerkstatt  Berlin, Festival Mixtur in Barcelona, Atlantic Music Festival in Maine, USA, Foro Internacional de Musica Nueva (Mexico), Domaine Forget  (Canada), Casa del Suono in Parma (Italy), Etchings Festival (France), Echoraum Vienna, Experimentalstudio Academy of the SWR Freiburg, 3rd Forum for Young Composers in Cascais (Portugal), Sonutopias 2014 (Santiago de compostela, Spain or ZKM Karlsruhe (Germany) by ensembles such as Ensemble Inercontemporain, Ensemble SurPlus, International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA), Vertixe Sonora,  Nouvelle Ensemble Moderne, ECCE ensemble, Taller Sonoro, Sond'arte electric ensemble, Ensemble Cepromusic, Ensemble Progress Berlin and others.

Currently she teaches in Switzerland.
