This year’s new discoveries here at Dirt Crew continue with a mysterious new act from Austria in the form of “reFelt”. He will deliver his debut EP to us as a great closing chapter of a very successful year with lots of exciting new artists. “reFelt” produces deep powerful tracks that range from gentle downbeat electronica to house with jazzy influences, adding deep textures and driving beats, a new kind of transcendental sound we are absolutely in love with.

The opener “Leisure Suite” takes you right in to a dark and foggy club setting, with its driving bass line and minimalistic beat we can see this one really tear a dance floor apart, hypnotic, dark and relentless.
Second track “Slosh” is a whole different story, entering with a slow percussive loop and keeping the tempo low from start to end this twisted tune is a beautiful mix of breakbeat meets electro-ish pulsating bass music. It has a lot of energy and when these sweet string pads set in the whole track is lifted to grandeur.

The third track “Vista” takes up the pace again and is a true soulful deep house jam with an irresistible piano loop, swinging drums and sampling jazzy elements before breaking down to an uplifting trance-y middle part that takes you right towards a great climax. We can see many early morning sets getting blessed by this one!

Closing out with the lush “Expiration of Times”. A masterful ending to an amazing debut, reFelt once more presents his unique mix of jazz, house, techno and trance. Slowly building towards a nasty drone and bass drop, there are some early Detroit Techno influences in this one, a blasting mix of house and techno. Epic!

Strap in for another standout release from Hell Yeah, and their final 12" of the year. 'Lagos Connect' is a one-off dance floor bomb from Aura Safari, one of the hottest names on the Italian electronic-jazz-funk circuit. Vocals come from Nigerian singer Villy and the artwork is by long-time label collaborator Andrea Amaducci who finishes off this package in style.

Aura Safari are Alessandro Deledda, Andrea Moretti, Lorenzo Lavoratori, Daniele Melloni and Nicholas Iammatteo. They contributed to the first volume of the Buena Onda compilation in 2020 and released the critical acclaimed Hotel Mediterraneo EP after years entrenched in the local scene of Perugia, attending the Umbria Jazz Festival every summer and legendary Red Zone Club during winter, both of which shaped the sound of Aura Safari. Now, they showcase their good-time grooves and vibrant vibes on two brilliant new tracks.

'Lagos Connect' is a gloriously upbeat tune that brims with musicality. The bass is fat, the chords seductive and the guitars slide in and out with funky charm. It immediately drops you in the middle of an open-air dance floor in high summer. Villy's soulful lyrics are socially and politically aware. They talk of living life with good vibrations even in the face of adversity. They speak of how society views those less fortunate and of staying true to yourself. They add realness and emotion to a sizzling and timeless track that will unite hearts and minds around the world.  A reprise, radio edit and dub mix are also included, then 

'Moving Rivers' ups the jazz-funk. It's another majestic arrangement packed with dazzling Rhodes chords, crashing drums and squelchy bass that demand that you move every limb in your body.

Number seven in our Break 3000 revisited classics series looks back at the pre Dirt Crew era in Cologne between 2002 and 2005. "Disco 7" was part of the first solo single of Break 3000 on Dirt Crew Recordings and a spacey mix of House, Disco and Electro. "Flash 2" was released on MBF from Cologne as the B side of the "Flash" vinyl release. Made in the same session as "Disco 7" this one also celebrates the great Italo and Disco tunes that inspired Break 3000. The last track on this release was a special contribution on Mood Music from Berlin, a fun take on early Chicago Jacking Acid House.

Beat From The East goes down a slightly deeper route and is like a pitched down techno thumper which names up to its namesake with some pretty nifty far east style shenanigans in its breakdown which is ably assisted by some trusty piano stabs. Hooky as you like.a proper banger.

Suntime is defo the most psychedelic of this offering. Straight up peyote drenched style synths with plenty of those ace whirly style stabs amongst a lazy swung arp & rolling percussion work.

Broken Song closes off the party and is certainly the disco member of this family. Funky as heck bassline action with a warped up vocal stab fitting nicely around some cosmic-esque style synth work. Serious neck & head-nodding workout vibes.
