Philadelphia based hip hop artist, Kameelah Waheed, grew up with music all around, with world beats, island and tribal vibes coming from inside her Islamic home. MTV meshed with rap blasting from every Philly radio station, while house parties were playing four to the floor and electronica. Her musical denial was the catalyst for her explosion into sound and later her versatility as an artist. This producer, writer and performer has worked within a myriad of styles from neo soul to hip hop, to house, releasing previously on BBE, Rapster Records, and Philly Through My Ear. In 2020 she dropped her highly respectable, ‘Holding On’ on Ramrock Records.
On ‘America the Beautiful’ Kameelah delivers powerful spoken word lyrics, pledging allegiance to the 
people of America. To the dreamers, the lovers, the thinkers, and the risk takers, at the same time she is questioning how many rights can America change? How many souls must it break? Kameelah skilfully delivers her conscious narrative alongside a rolling hip house beat. Reminiscent of Harlem’s Last Poets who spat lyrics about the 1960s African American civil rights movement, and Gil Scott Herons’ concern on social issues, conveying his message through a fusion of funk, soul, blues and fly lyrical content. This ‘Avant-funk’ is a nod to 80s New York and the Defunkt, Talking Heads, Ze Records sounds coming out of the city at that time. Loaded with talent, the poetry is written by the hand and from the heart of Kameelah Waheed, it is also produced by Kameelah alongside Kelly Murray, with cast of musicians that have worked with the likes of Lauren Hill and the legendary Diana Ross.
Reworks come courtesy of two of the UKs most prolific underground production squads. Black Science Orchestra’s Ashley Beedle heads up North Street West with Jo Wallace and Daren Morris, laying their signature moves and grooves down on the title track with a vocal, instrumental and dub. It’s a homage to composers of vintage US cop show themes – Lalo Schifrin and Quincy Jones, with an undercurrent of ‘street sounds’ and tough, inner city funk, you can almost see the steam coming up through the manhole covers.
Production collective of the moment, Bruise, have been enjoying the limelight and quite rightly so, with their ‘Grand Hi’ earmarked by the Guardian, and sync’d by Grand Theft Auto. Christian Campbell
works his magic again on both vocal and instrumental, taking the title track to a whole other level of 
euphoric and joyous orchestral house. It’s both dark and uplifting with those shades of D town techno with soul we’ve all come to love from Bruise.

Strap in for another standout release from Hell Yeah, and their final 12" of the year. 'Lagos Connect' is a one-off dance floor bomb from Aura Safari, one of the hottest names on the Italian electronic-jazz-funk circuit. Vocals come from Nigerian singer Villy and the artwork is by long-time label collaborator Andrea Amaducci who finishes off this package in style.

Aura Safari are Alessandro Deledda, Andrea Moretti, Lorenzo Lavoratori, Daniele Melloni and Nicholas Iammatteo. They contributed to the first volume of the Buena Onda compilation in 2020 and released the critical acclaimed Hotel Mediterraneo EP after years entrenched in the local scene of Perugia, attending the Umbria Jazz Festival every summer and legendary Red Zone Club during winter, both of which shaped the sound of Aura Safari. Now, they showcase their good-time grooves and vibrant vibes on two brilliant new tracks.

'Lagos Connect' is a gloriously upbeat tune that brims with musicality. The bass is fat, the chords seductive and the guitars slide in and out with funky charm. It immediately drops you in the middle of an open-air dance floor in high summer. Villy's soulful lyrics are socially and politically aware. They talk of living life with good vibrations even in the face of adversity. They speak of how society views those less fortunate and of staying true to yourself. They add realness and emotion to a sizzling and timeless track that will unite hearts and minds around the world.  A reprise, radio edit and dub mix are also included, then 

'Moving Rivers' ups the jazz-funk. It's another majestic arrangement packed with dazzling Rhodes chords, crashing drums and squelchy bass that demand that you move every limb in your body.

Formed in Glasgow 2019 out of a mutual love of Acid House. The band is made up of Djs Nick Stewart, Matt McCue and blues singer Chris Wilson.

The band formed when Nick asked Matt to play a live set at a club and Matt said the only way he would do it was if they formed a band. 6 weeks later they played live (slightly terrified) with the do it yourself Punk attitude.

The song was written about my ex-girlfriend. My soulmate and twin flame. We are still in love with each other but can't be together however much we want to be. 

It's about the pain of being separated from someone you are completely in love with. Hoping that the pain of separation will pass someday.
It's melancholic and euphoric. Using just a Roland CR - 68 drum machine, 2 synths and a 303. The acid line coming in at the end signifies 'hope' the feelings of loss will pass and get better.

FAKE PHONECALL

Fake Phonecall is about abandoning the use of modern devices for genuine human interactions on the dance floor.

It says goodbye to the selfie and social media ; asking human beings to reconnect in the moment through acid house music.

More cowbell than is probably needed and answer machine messages in French and Spanish recorded into mobile phones and sent to us. 
No samples used in the track.

Ever busy DJ and producer Lis Sarroca is back with her debut on German House-label CHIWAX, which has been known - just like the artist too - for quality release throughout. The five tracker Booyah is Lis' follow up her Spaze X release, which marked the first release of her own imprint Maai Records. Again Lis proves why she's one of the most in-demand producers of current times: musically versatile but still bringing her general melodic vibe through, always having either a classy deep note or a 90s reference in her music and always grooving. All of these feature though can be found on her Booyah EP - skillfully and carefully combined. A pinch of Acid here, a touch of Rave or Breakbeats there and always a formidable amount of House. Latter comes with a and the before mentioned deep tone on the B2 Herr. The deep pads of the track as well as the subtle vocals serve the following Acid-line as a built up, which then, of course, not only clings to those elements but at the same time drags the listeners deeply into the track's burrow and do not let go until the six minute and 28 seconds lasting journey back into glory times is over.

Hell Yeah welcomes the Italian musical collective Aura Safari for a debut EP on the label.

The band, who are at the forefront of a new Italian fusion sound that blends jazz-funk, electronic and world sounds, is made up of acclaimed house devotee Nicholas Iammatteo, plus Alessandro Deledda, Lorenzo Lavoratori, Daniele Melloni and Andrea Moretti. They contributed a standout track to the Buena Onda - Balearic Beats compilation last year as well as releasing a full length LP on UK label Church to critical acclaim.

Opener 'Dreams of Music' is a lush, new age groove with rich musicality, wind instruments and live drums all glowing warmly as you roll into sundown. 'Oasis' then sinks into a reflective mood, with lazy drums and sensuous late night chords sounding like Roy Ayers all loved up and super stoned. The noodling keys really melt your heart before the excellent 'Slow Divers' pairs more majestic bass riffs with wet claps and splashing cymbals as a wandering lead drifts up to the heavens. It has a dubby swagger to it that is superbly subtle.

Closing out the EP 'Libra', is a heartwarming, slow motion, jazz-funk fusion packed with detail and life affirming synth playing.

These are gloriously heartfelt tracks that showcase this collective's supreme musical ability as well as their unquestionable understanding of jazz, funk and soul, past, present and future.
