Dimitri From Paris and DJ Rocca have lots of history of producing together as Erodiscotique and once again here they team up on a new single for Hell Yeah. The stunning original, Disco Shake, comes backed with remixes from Luminodisco, J Kriv, D&G and remix pioneer Tom Moulton.

Dimitri from Paris is a true electronic music legend – he pioneered his own French house sound at the start of his career, has mixed seminal compilations including the cult "Deluxe House of Funk" and the infamous "A Night At The Playboy Mansion" and has remixed everyone from The Rapture to Storm Queen in recent times. His partner in crime here, DJ Rocca – who is part of Ajello and the excellent Crimea X - is one of the key figures in the new Italian house scene. He has released lots of productions and remixes for Classic, Rekids and International Feel and once again comes up with the goods here.

In original form the single is a foot stomping bit of disco with organic drums, breathy vocals and plenty of laser like guitar lines shooting through the arrangement. Bright golden chords add a luxurious quality to the Italo referencing pianos and the twinkly, starry breakdown allows a moment to catch your breath before is off to authentic disco town once again.

First on the flip is Luminodisco, a regular on the Hell Yeah label who blends everything from afro to funk to disco into his productions. His remix is a little more cosmic with frazzled synths, Studio 80 style disco colour and perfectly ramshackle percussion.

EVGHENIIA - Twin Flame (Doyeq Remix)

Futureboogie roll into Spring with a heavyweight release from dastardly duo, Ron & Neil, AKA Ron Basejam, and Neil Diablo, who between them bring years of musical chops and (most importantly) ‘the funk ‘to the table, and don’t disappoint here.

In its Original Mix, ‘Pedre Son Éclat’ is a breezy yet sturdy slice of atmospheric synth dance, resplendent with swirling riffs and stammering bass.  A thunderous Roland CR-78 drum pattern keeps everything in check, and its sultry vocals flitter between spoken word and harmonious refrains, lacing the track with a superb ‘new wave’ feel. 

A remix comes courtesy of Man Power, the musical enigma that traded on his anonymity for a couple of years before coming clean as the English DJ/producer Geoff Kirkwood.  Having released on labels like Hivern, Throne Of Blood and Correspondant, Man Power takes ‘Pedre Son Éclat’ into even deeper territories, crafting a moody and spacious version that respectfully stays close to the original mix.

‘You Feel It’ ramps up the funk; the tribal rhythms, horn blasts and other micro samples keep the arrangement lively, all the while that bassline really gelling the track together.  

Rounding off the release is ‘Tears’; tension building strings and beats straight out of the school of Prelude/Salsoul lay the foundation for some grandiose analog arps, soulful vox and funky guitar licks, a super slick offering from the duo.

The beach was a tropical paradise upon which beautiful people graced, it was not somewhere to see but in which to be seen. Sitting upon a sunbed he looked out at the peaceful world and took a drink from his tall glass of coco loco. The cold moisture which stuck to the side of the glass felt icy and  chilled to the touch, the sand in between his toes rustled below. The sun was scorching hot and the heat was almost too much to bare, retreating into the shade he lay down and closed his eyes.

Spanish producer @jamesrod is an artist who has built up a fantastic discography and the following to go with it over the last few years. A prolific producer he is equally as well renowned for the stunning quality of this work.
