Greyscale’s Mood Series hits its 146th edition with the return of Italian producer Dib, delivering Quadrans 002, his first release for the label since 2020’s Quadrans 001.1. Known for precision and detail, Dib again demonstrates his knack for meticulously crafted dub techno. 'Opener Quadrans 002.1' eases in with hazy, flowing chords that evoke the gentle distortion of analog radio interference. Beneath, a tight rhythmic framework features a punchy kick and crisp snare that keeps things concise while leaving space for the atmosphere to breathe. 'Quadrans 002.2' ups the tempo subtly, pairing taut beats and clever chord delays with a sense of unease via an eerie melodic thread. This tension eventually dissolves, allowing the groove to stretch out in pure techno flow. On 'Quadrans 002.3', Dib’s chord work turns intricate and hypnotic, pulling focus while the rhythm and textural flow stay in a supportive role. It’s a study in “selective hearing”, encouraging the listener to sink deep into its layered motion. Closing cut 'Quadrans 002.4' arrives with the most assertive chords of the set, each note echoing into the mix alongside metallic percussive reflections. The interplay between the warm harmonic swells and sharp tonal accents gives it a yin-yang energy, a fitting and memorable conclusion. With Quadrans 002, Dib delivers a finesse to these detailed tracks that sink in deep. It’s both a strong continuation of his Quadrans concept and another fine chapter in Greyscale’s global dub techno chronicle.

grad_u (Aleksandr Martinkevič) is a Vilnius-based DJ, producer, and label owner, widely recognized as one of the key figures in the modern deep and dub techno scene. Active for over two decades, he has shaped a career that bridges multiple roles — from local DJ to international tastemaker — while maintaining a distinctive and coherent sonic identity.
Originally rooted in d’n’b, his artistic direction shifted after hearing Fluxion’s Prospect II, a transformative moment that steered him toward the immersive depths of dub techno. Since then, his sound — suspended between natural landscapes and urban geometries — has evolved through the use of analog textures, tape recording, and a painterly approach to production.

In 2012, he founded Redscale, his first vinyl-only label, created to host his own work and soon acclaimed worldwide. Palpebræ Label Mix 03: Greyscale [mixed by grad_u]

The night felt almost mystical. The flickering of neon signs brought to life the trash bins and fire escapes — street romance in its purest form. But not everything fit together as neatly as it seemed. Foul-smelling steam rolled out from sewer grates. From deep within a nearby alley came distant screams, followed by hurried footsteps. Somewhere above, the shriek of a police drone was concealed by the noise of the district.

Not far from there, at the corner of a food stall, Cat sat. Poking at cold noodles with a pair of chopsticks, he gazed at the stars and thought about home. Then, suddenly, he froze, his eyes locked at something in front. Someone was approaching fast, with a familiar stride.

“Heads up, fluffy.”
“Doc…”
“We don’t have much time. Let’s shake hands and forget about the fight.”
“You think you can just vanish and then reappear like nothing happened?”
“I was being an idiot. I know that. But it’s not safe here. I’ll explain on the way.”

Cat nodded and followed silently. Memory and logic tangled into a knot — clinging to the professor’s voice, his tone, his face. Something felt… off. It wasn’t just the apology. There was something weird about him. The doubt that was creeping through him gave way to determination. They had a lot to talk about.

DJ SIDEWAYS - MONOCHROME III

Columbian-based label, From A Lost Place is no stranger to us here at Delayed. Since 2018 the imprint run by founder, Launaea has been a consistent presence in the ambient, deep and experimental musical worlds that we are so fond of. With past releases including notable names like Zemög, Claudio PRC, Launaea himself, and a few monster compilations, there’s something for everyone in their rich backlog.

Marking a new direction for the label, the latest forthcoming release, titled ‘parasympathetic’ finds us listening to a glittering five tracker by the German artist, YYARD. Bright melodies abound as the label states, ‘perfect definition of the artist's eclecticism, blending groove and jazz influences with very meticulous rhythms, rich and organic percussions perfectly suited for the dance floor’.

'apnoe', the second to final track on the release, takes a darker approach, compared to the emotional highs of, say, Endless Summers. A full-sounding synth lead takes center stage as it grows and grows, while snappy percussion plays throughout, providing that proper groove and infectious movement. Tracks like these are ear worms and proper for a warmup session.

'apnoe', and in turn ‘parasympathetic’ will be released on November 20th.

As we venture into the 19th edition of The Frontier we are excited to welcome an Artist and label owner that we’ve been fans of for a long time - The Belfast-based DJ and founder of Computer Controlled Records - Nez 

Over the past 2 decades, he’s carved out a distinct voice in the underground scene, both as a selector and as a curator, driven by a deep respect for the roots of electronic music and a hunger for its future possibilities. 

Known for intense, tightly crafted sets, Nez brings an uncompromising approach to the dancefloor. His selections speak to years spent digging, listening, and understanding how music moves people physically and emotionally. There's a clarity of intent in his sets: no gimmicks, no trend-chasing, just pure, high-voltage energy built for dark rooms and late hours.

Through Computer Controlled Records, he’s released music from like-minded artists who share a passion for hardware-driven sound and DIY ethos. The label has become a trusted outlet for heads seeking depth and authenticity, reflecting Nez’s commitment to keeping the underground alive and vital.

Outside the booth and studio, Nez remains active in the Belfast scene, supporting local talent, hosting events, and helping build a space where music can thrive on its own terms. Whether he’s playing to a packed club or championing a new artist, the goal stays the same: to serve the music and the people who live for it.

For his Frontier mix Nez has delivered an hour and 40 minutes of his usual full throttle style, heads down, dance-floor orientated pumpers. This is definitely one that will require some dancing shoes.
