@Plastician is a voice of the underground. Track premieres from his Rinse FM radio residency routinely get ripped and uploaded to rising artist’s SoundCloud pages like badges of honor. His @Terrorhythm record label is a place where you can find some of the best in new and innovative club sounds with releases from the likes of AWE, GANZ, KRNE, Curl Up, Alexandre, Anton F and many others. His dance music roots run as deep as the early days of grime and dubstep, both of which he played a major role in. He was the first to sign a release from Joker and Om Unit and his DJ residency at Plastic People’s FWD party helped bring the sounds of both styles to the masses. 

Today we’re stoked to be bringing you Plastician’s MiniMix for Nest HQ, which is packed with plenty of forward driven grime, rap, club and warehouse sounds for you to sink your ears into. No tracklist :)

Nest HQ MiniMix: Plastician

The Fyre Dept, consisting of lifelong friends and musical cohorts Adam Deitch and Eric Krasno, have put together a collection of their hottest tracks that have been locked in the vaults of their Brooklyn studio for years. Deitch began the process of sampling countless musical heroes of his onto his Korg Triton keyboard about 10 years ago. After rearranging pieces of different records mixed with samples of his own drums and percussion, as well as adding basslines and efx, Kraz stepped in and added his masterful guitar playing, mixing and mastering skills, while coordinating and producing the guests that appear on this mixtape. This mixtape is edutainment, meaning that we encourage you to do research into the artists we sampled as well as the emcees and musicians that appear. This is also a homage to a style of Hip Hop music that we love. Enjoy the lost files.

This is an episode for those dealing with a fragile emotional state and they don’t know what to do with themselves. Who I am speaking to here are those who are overwhelmed and don’t know where to turn. The letters I am getting are not all related to one source of upheaval: Some of you are struggling to process anger and feelings of powerlessness over injustice. Some of you are struggling to deal with anxiety and sadness on top of anger and powerlessness. Some of you are feeling so many things that you feel as if you are going to break into a million pieces. Some of you feel useless and like nothing you do matters. Some of you are feeling lonely and overwhelmed by COVID and worried about the uncertainty of the future. And there is so much happening right now – so much emotional upheaval, on top of the isolation we are already suffering due to COVID, and the uncertainty of the future, there are the high levels of joblessness. There’s a lot of toxicity in the news and especially in social media right now. In short - there’s a lot to manage, understand and process - especially if you are already someone who suffers from anxiety or depression.  And especially if you are someone who really cares about doing the right thing – and you feel unable to be active in that right now.

A lot of you who have never experienced trauma or have never been pushed to your threshold as far as dealing with overwhelm and anxiety – now’s a difficult time to be going through that. Why? Because resources for self-soothing and grounding are limited due to COVID.  

So this episode is slightly different – first I will address those in an immediate state of “I feel like I’m going to explode or jump out a window!” Then I have some tools for the coming weeks for day to day negative thinking and anxiety.
