Mirage is a poetic interpretation of the mysterious nature of the deserts in Iran. Traditional themes such as Zoroastrian hymns, religious prayers and customs, in combination with Pejman's musical impression of the  architectural, geography and lore of desert regions, have given way to  a mystical ambience where instruments like donali (pipe), kamancheh (spiked fiddle), delroba, gheichak or dohol play an important role. Some of the parts of this music are inspired by Pejman's composition for Majid Majidi's Oscar nominated movie Baran (2001).

Ecstasy

Journey is based on five pieces for setar evoking different modalities and ambiences of traditional Persian music. The Indian tabla, closely linked to the setar, takes us further east while classical and contemporary orchestral formations such as strings, electric jazz guitar, sound effects... pay tribute to European musical traditions of the present day. 

Journey

This album consists Hooshyar Khayam's cello concerto (world premiere) as well as other compositions of his for strings and piano. Featuring Duo Ars Lunga and Naregatsi Ensemble, all works are live performance recordings at Komitas Hall, Yerevan, conducted by the composer. Aram Talalyan (Cello), Lusine Aghababyan (Violin) and Julietta Vardanyan (Piano) appear as the soloists of the album.

Stained Glass

 All of you (duet for piano and ney) is in its core an improvisation. Most of the pieces have been performed and recorded only once with no edits or retakes and only some use the technique of multilayer recording to achieve the desired effect. Sonorities heard are all of acoustic nature performed by the musicians and generated on their instruments .

Dawn

The instrumental sonnets in this album are ghazals for solo piano resembling a long poem ("The Scent of Petunias and the Acacias That Flow Through Them") by distinguished Iranian contemporary poet Ahmadreza Ahmadi. Thousand Acacias is Hooshyar’s second solo album after Tatari ( HER037 ).

Maybe that's why most of the film music writers embark on different forms in their works, experiencing vaster freedom. Yazdanian uses this space, writing music depicting visions. A music, which you can listen & imagine, without looking at the silver screen.
   Themes is a collection of four original movie soundtracks including Wind will carry us (Abbas Kiarostami), Strangers (Ramin Bahrani), Going By (Iraj Karimi) and Water & Fire (Fereydoun Jeyrani).

Memories of Tomorrow is the story of a simple day in a complicated modern society. It is about coping with the stressful urban life, visiting memories of the past to calm the complicity of life, lost loves, betrayals, hate, and difficult challenges only to put them all aside to gain hope to start a new day.

Memories

Based on an ancient Sumerian tale, the order of the universe rested upon a dramatic confrontation between a creature who ruled the darkness, storms and the seas, and Marduk, the God of Babylon. Having defeated the evil dragon, he created the sky and the stars, trees, animals and finally mankind.
Genesis is a remarkable experiment, using the diverse sound-generating capabilities of Iran's traditional drum, the Tombak, to tell the story of Marduk.

Genesis

Although Rock music was born in post-industrial societies, the younger generation of Iranians have been searching for a kind of Rock that springs from the heart of their own society. By using folk melodies and traditional motifs, Barad tries to come up with a new blend of Rock.

Hermit

The musical concept of the Franco-Iranian Nour Ensemble is based on Persian, Kurdish and medieval vocal and instrumental music. Supervised by Christophe Rezai, Nour Ensemble performs Kurdish and Persian folk melodies, Spanish cantigas and Gregorian chants. The album was recorded at the ruins of the 1600-year old Ardeshir Babakan Castle near the city of Shiraz.

Villancico

Hermes Records celebrated Fete de la Musique in June 2003 by organizing a live concert in Tehran. The concert was first conceived in three parts. French and Iranian ensembles were to perform separately in the first two parts and join together in the third, but the chemistry between the musicians was such that Alain Brunet suggested that the two ensembles appear on the stage together under the name of Paris-Tehran Project.

Nowrouz

Compositions in this album are intended as concert pieces, challenging the pianist with difficult but flowing techniques. Tatari’s seriousness of expression, its abstract structure, its “new” as well as “old” pianism has deep roots Persian music and deserve critical attention.

Cover Version, the album, collects all the material issued on the limited edition Cover Version singles series released between 2003-2010. The 12 tracks comprise six Steven Wilson originals and six covers and provide an essential insight into both Wilson's musical taste and his evolution as a solo artist.

In March 2003 Steven Wilson released Cover Version, a limited edition 2 track CD single. This was the first piece to be released under Wilson's own name (following an illustrious career as a member of Porcupine Tree and No-Man, and recording under various guises such as IEM and Bass Communion), and comprised completely solo performances, stripped back to acoustic guitar, piano and voice.

The single was made up of one cover version, along with one new, original composition. Replicating this format, over the next seven years, Wilson released a further five singles as part of the series.

Each of the CD singles were strictly limited. The final release (Cover Version VI) came in a special box housing all six CDs, with artwork designed by Carl Glover and a booklet of portraits of Steven by Hajo Mueller. Subsequently, an even more limited run of 7" singles were also pressed. Inevitably, as Wilson's popularity has grown - both through his work with Porcupine Tree and his hugely successful solo career - these long deleted releases have become much sought-after by collectors.

Cover Version, the album, re-packages this intriguing part of Wilson's career for a new generation of listeners.

With Dysnomia, the Brooklyn-based group Dawn of Midi made up of double bass player Aakaash Israni, pianist Amino Belyamani and drummer Qasim Naqvi abandon improvisation in favour of composition, utilising sophisticated rhythmic structures from North and West African folk traditions to weave a sonic tapestry of trance-inducing grooves. From close up one may see only dots, but when stepping back an undulating image reveals itself. “We didn’t want to create anything cerebral,” says Belyamani, “we wanted something visceral, something that would awaken our instinctive dance impulses.” 

“We wanted to make a record that sounded both musically futuristic and sonically vintage,” explains Israni, “and since the album never saw a proper international release, it is very exciting to see what might happen when more people are exposed to it. And to be aligned with Erased Tapes, whose enthusiasm for the music they release has done a lot for exposing unique instrumental and electronic music, makes it that much more interesting.”
