Welcome back to another Transmission broadcasting from the HER 他 Transmission Mix Series, a weekly mix series showcasing amazing artists from around the world. For the 86th edition, we bring you a mix from Papaphilia.

Papaphilia is the experimental/electronic project of queer Naarm-based sound and visual artist Fjorn Bastos. Descended from South Asian and British heritages, Bastos’ music runs across the intersection of several dance idioms, intertwining hard kicks, industrial beats and acid oscillations with mutated vocals. She works as a researcher and community organiser, interrogating the aesthetics of political representation and cultural supremacy in the contemporary formation of the colony.

Our very own resident Simisea is up first with an hour of nonstop rhythmic motion.

"To inaugurate our SLINK mix series I made a mix exploring what “slink” means to me. Equal parts booty and brain (the way I like it!) the mix explores various tempos, rhythmic patterns, and layers of electronic music from around the world. There are moments of freaked and fried pop mutations, moments of darkness emerging into neon light, and moments I imagined slipping out of my skin on the dancefloor to.
