Canadian DJ, artist, and event curator Critter is known for her eclectic, genre-fluid selections and high-energy sets. Honing her sound since her earliest days on the internet, she is a devoted digital crate digger who seamlessly blends hard and soft, favouring lush melodies, body-syncing basslines, and intricate percussive soundscapes.

The transformative power of dance music continuously inspires Critter, and has been a longstanding member of its communities and spaces near and far, including her Toronto-based queer party collective Pucker Up!

She’s lovingly called her mix for HER’s Transmission series “music 4 flowers,” which features a range of ethereal and organic sounds, from head-bobbing downtempo and breezy glitch-house to euphoric, earthy techno and sunny garage. Listen to this one on a nature walk and play it for your plants <3

Boyzu Rabu is a professional illustrator by day and an otaku DJ by night. Their iconic selects include J-core, denpa music originating from the Otaku capital Akihabara and extremely deep cut hardcore remixes of their favorite anime & game OSTs. 

Japanese Moe & nerd culture is a huge inspiration in their body of visual and musical work. Doing cosplay as a hobby helped Boyzu Rabu finally achieve their dream of being a Real Anime Magical Warrior. Their sets have spanned New York, Tokyo, Bali and various venues and parties in Jakarta. A superstar techno producer with her own innovative and unique sounds, Julia Govor is the founder and curator of record label JUJUKA, as well as the co-founder of Radial. Currently based in New York, Julia has recently been featured on Bandcamp Daily as a best new Music producer.

With original productions that the media has described as Rare, Beguiling and Mind filling, teamed with her dense, vivid DJ sets, Julia is enthusiastic and energetic with a charismatic fatal charm. Govor knows how to move and make others feel and engage.

Cloudy Ku is the label founder and driving force of SPEED. A Taipei-born, Naarm based DJ and musician with notoriously high energy and hard-hitting DJ sets, looks to embody all the essence of SPEED everytime they grace the dancefloor.

SPEED is back with another round of the Artist Invitation Mix series, featuring an incredible artist. We’re excited to present a mix from Cunt Remember https://soundcloud.com/cuntremember representing Berlin for this edition of the series.

Berlin-based artist cunt remember shares a psy-tinted blend of techno, trance, and experimental flavours on this week's podcast. 

Following a first-time set at Säule last year, the rising producer and DJ has had a busy start to 2024, playing in Den Ander Side, OXI, OHM and next up, RSO. Releasing on tracks for @tm8.club, @splinter-cell-unit, @harmless cunt remember's debut album 'Forest Schranz' on Magdalena's Apathy (@regrets_regrets) marks another pivotal point in the Argentinian artist's story. 

With a background in contemporary art, cunt remember is detail-focused and merges many disciplines, a radical approach with which Irene also curates the event series "Forever Unlimited".

Shell Shock (she/her) is a multi-genre DJ, party host and music nerd who loves disco, house, and techno. She has played at Revolver Upstairs, Esoteric Festival (theme camp), My Aeon, Rubix Warehouse, Killing Time, the Victorian Pride Centre and live on Kiss FM Australia.

Shell Shock is drawn to groovy, melodic, psychedelic and progressive sounds – she plays soulful euphoric house, cheeky tech-house, dark disco and driving, peak-time techno. Her sets are emotional journeys full of heart, nostalgia, energy and playfulness.

She is also one half of TUNNEL VISION with Caity Watsøn. Together they showcase disco, house, techno and silliness at events in Naarm.

Tilt Shift is an Event Brand Managed and Curated by Melbourne Artist @the-stockholm-syndrome

Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. This can be applied to our music policy, tilting the vertical axis resulting in a sharp area of focus without reducing the depth of field. The selective focus that can be achieved by both tilting and shifting movements, It's compelling because the effect is different from that which you may have become accustomed to. This movement is often used to avoid the convergence of parallel lines, or as we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur.

本set 原本是在Kenga Chang的瑤池：極南之盡派對演出，演出過後回家又整理了一遍重新錄製（錄了很多遍）。感謝Kenga大讓我在沉潛四年後有破冰的契機！

非常感謝安豬大把他的 Kontrol S4 借我，讓我有器材可以用 :D 也非常感謝 Spotify，讓我能發現很多 good shit，而且即使沒有在外面放歌，也還是能對我放的東西有一定的熟稔度。

我在這個 set 中試圖呈現我多年來一直想傳達給聽眾的狀態：無法預測下一步會怎麼走，但莫名還是兜得起來，因為下面有某種東西接住了。

因為有許多跨 BPM 的歌曲，在接歌時常常需要思考其他的接歌方法。有些是尋找相同的聲音元素，或是乾脆等歌曲結束後再接（不執著於一定要在歌曲跑到一半時接，有時候效果意外地好）。

最常使用的還是三軌接歌法，一軌變 key/pitch 做出 Steve Reich 效果（這招是以前玩噪音時找到的）。

打破一切規則！但還是維持一種規則！

其實 Traktor 裡面應該有超多可以破壞歌曲結構、創造接歌空間的效果器，我應該要更積極地去使用。慢慢來吧。

另外想提一下，這個 set 錄到可以正常接歌的地方時，我都刻意不用 sync。主要是因為我覺得用耳朵對拍、對放的過程會產生一種強迫投入的效果，很像衝浪——對我來說，這樣比較刺激也比較好玩（對聽眾來說不一定好玩就是了）。

Shell Shock (she/her) is a Melbourne/Naarm-based DJ, party host and neurodivergent music nerd. She is drawn to groovy, melodic, psychedelic and progressive sounds. She plays soulful euphoric house, cheeky tech-house, bouncy hard dance, dark disco and driving, peak-time techno. Her sets are emotional journeys full of heart, nostalgia, energy and playfulness.

“I loved making this mix because it gave me an opportunity to show a different side of myself. I explored a more melodic, euphoric house sound with elements of trance and breakbeat – stuff I usually don’t get to play out. Progressive house and melodic techno were the genres when electronic music hooked me in my 20s, so it’s nice to re-visit my first loves.

This mix is a celebration of feminine energy in many forms - dreamy, emotional, experimental and powerful. There are lots of big feelings and soaring female vocals. We start slow and contemplative and end up in stomping our feet in the club. It took me a couple of goes to get this mix right – because it’s a blend of different genres and tempos – so it was good to get out my comfort zone.

I’ve chosen artists I admire, such as Robyn, Bjork, Kelly Lee Owens and RONA. I’m inspired by the way they push themselves creatively and stand up for what they believe in. It was important to me to include some local Australian artists, people of colour, queer people and First Nations voices. It has also prompted me to include more femme and non-binary artists in my sets in the future. I hope you enjoy it.”

Shell Shock (she/her) is a DJ, party host and neurodivergent music nerd. 

She plays disco, house, bush techno, driving/peak time techno, hardgroove and hard dance. She has played at venues such as Revolver Upstairs, My Aeon, New Guernica, Aetheria Festival in Darwin and recently headlined events in Japan and New Zealand.

Her sets are emotional journeys full of heart, nostalgia, energy and playfulness.

Shell Shock has been running events in Naarm for the past few years and is currently Brand Manager for techno collective 150 BPM.
