"Ci sono gruppi e solisti musicali che vanno cercati. addentrandosi nelle pieghe meno conosciute di generi che magari hanno una levatura popolare ma che sono maggiormente genuini nelle cose più ricercate e meno conosciute. E' proprio questo il caso della quarta collaborazione discografia fra la cantante Pat Moonchy e il produttore poli strumentista Todd Tobias. Questo ep segue il fortunato Moonchy & Tobias III uscinto nel 2020 e che aveva reso ben chiaro il tutto. Musica eterea, baciata dalla luna e dal sole allo stesso tempo, un fermare il tempo facendo poesia, un bagno in acque più fresche e vitali. Pat + una cantante che riesce a suonare la voce come pochissimi e pochissime sanno fare, portando il canto a compenetrarsi con la musica, arrivando ad essere un'unica vibrazione, potente e dolcissima. Pat canta quasi sempre in italiano in questo ep, è la sua lingua natia e riesce a cogliere alcune sfumature e a dare una musicalità altra alla nostra lingua. L'italiano può essere un dolce danzare, e qui diventa un esercizio lirico di assoluta purezza, con le musiche di Tobias che puntellano magnificamente il tutto. Straniante dolcezza, carezze da ninfe e acqua che sgorga al centro dell'asfalto, dimensioni che non potevamo vedere prima, e che ci mancavano disperatamente. Il singolo Delibo è un'ottima dimostrazione della maniera personale di fare musica del gruppo, del loro diverso sentire. Voci che sembrano note e note che paiono voci, là dove tutto si confonde ed è più bello. Todd e Pat sono due mondi musicali molto fecondi e dal loro incontro sta nascendo qualcosa che ancora non esisteva e che si trasforma ad ogni nuova uscita, quasi una liturgia pagana che parte dall'antichità ed arriva ai giorni nostri".

Hidden Shoal Licensing Showcase

'Delibo' is the new single from the forthcoming Moonchy & Tobias EP, "Venus Mirror" (out via Tiny Room Records and Hidden Shoal). 

A buoyant follow-up to the brooding, nocturnal atmospheres of the duo’s 2020 release Moonchy & Tobias III, the luminous, soothingVenus Mirror is infused with an almost tropical sway. On ‘Specchio Di Venere’, Tobias’ modulated synth, tuned percussion and acoustic guitar paint a widescreen scene, over which Moonchy’s vocal traces a mesmerizing wordless melody. On the other six tracks, Moonchy sings both in her native Italian and in ancient Latin, her voice soaring and graceful in turns. In the single ‘Delibo,’ the warm major sevenths of jazz are chilled by a shivering wind. ‘Leniter’ brings the EP to a fittingly ambiguous close, setting the listener adrift on see-sawing, reverb-drenched piano lines.

The direct emotive power of ‘On and Onwards’ comes from the simple accumulation of pristine instrumental elements: shimmering chimes, resonant piano chords, a driving kick drum, and a glitchy, echoing hook. The elements build and play off each other with clarity and precision, resulting in a track of deceptive power and resonance.

‘Delicate Power’ is the second single to be taken from Antonymes’ sublime new album "(For Now We See) Through A Glass Dimly". The track showcases Antonymes deft musical skills with its restrained rhythms infusing the melodies with a gravitas that is at once warmly human and gravely austere.

The hypnotic rhythmic underpinning of ‘Delicate Power’ has invited five magical re-workings on this EP, each with its own subtle majesty. Marconi Union tease the original into a beautifully orchestrated anti-gravity ballad. Markus Mehr’s inimitable skills for re-invention have helped him to create a brooding version that draws heavily on the original’s rhythmic details. Lvmark’s reinterpretation foregrounds the melodic elements of the original, wedded to gently pulsing electronica. Alongside these three guest remixes, there are two reworkings from Antonymes himself: ‘Delicate Power’ (Waltz For Mary Anne)’ transforms the original into a beautiful, late-night swing, and ‘Delicate Power (Jung’s Drug Drum Waltz)’ lives up to the promise of its title with more heft to its woody rhythms.

Chloe March - Let It All In

'Pina' is lifted from "Fragments Vol.1", the wonderful new EP by the Italian electronic producer Willem Gator.The EP is available now via Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and most other online stores. On his new EP as Willem Gator, Giuseppe Musmeci juxtaposes the glimmering tones of Asian stringed instruments against haunting vocal samples, shimmering guitar loops and pounding drum refrains. ‘Fall of Saigon’, ‘Voice of Korea’ and ‘Korean Shaman Exorcist’ all employ these instrumental ingredients to mesmerising effect. At the EP’s heart lies the glowering, reflective ‘Noodles Western’, built around piano, synth strings and pattering cymbals. Closing track ‘Pina’ sees Musmeci’s role in post-rock band HC-B brought to the fore, with drums that would sit right at home on instrumental hip-hop, offset by spiralling instrumental textures.

Willem Gator is Giuseppe Musmeci, self-taught composer, guitarist, electronic musician and member of the Italian post-rock outfit HC-B.
