I love this, even when you explanation is too advanced for me, I would like to consider using it, but I would need a more hands on, practical approach.

Manuella Blackburn on 'Kitchen Alchemy': While composing this piece, I began to think of the analogy of alchemy and its applicability to the compositional process of acousmatic music. I wanted to create something seemingly precious and elaborate that showed no similarity to the ordinary source sounds of kitchen utensils and appliances.

This album is made by Bplrxxiii and Native Cell. We worked on and off on it, over a period of two years (2017-2019). It was a fun creative process, sending each other ideas back and forth to achieve intriguing sounds and soundscapes. Our inspiration was taken in nature and the infinitely large and infinitely small. Mixed with retro-futuristic vibe, ambiant and glitchy spiked details.

I had a mystic dream. A dark haired lady was sitting on a beach of cold sea, playing an instrument made of ice. The music to my ears and even to my eyes was something I had never heard but had always dreamed of, whimsical and gorgeous, like angels' voices rolling and dancing on the ice. She smiled and said to me, "This is an iceface tuned piano. Its every black key is tuned 50 cents higher." She kept playing it until she vanished into the sea.

I thought I woke up and I went to my keyboard. My music software, Steinberg Cubase and Native Instruments Kontakt, have microtuning function, so I tuned it just as she had told me. Then I truly woke up, saw my hands playing it. By playing each black key (non diatonic note) 50 cents higher for the grace notes, it was just like what I had heard in the dream.

I had a mystice dream.
I will smile and say to you
"This is an iceface tuned piano. Its every black key is tuned 50 cents higher."

You might think it's odd, but I've decided that I should share this lucid fairy tale, "iceface tuned piano" with the world. H. Wakabayashi (composer, sound artist, Singer-SongSleeper)  

Wakabayashi studied Jazz piano at An Music School of Kyoto and then began to work as a MIDI programmer in 2001. Around that time, he began to make experimental laments and music under the influences of ambient and lounge music, pursuing landscapes that show summer and winter at the same time. In 2008, he performed at the Interface Festival in Mexico and then released a split EP on Mandorla. He has also worked as a composer for videos/films and now he is making videos himself under the name "Mewomihi".
       
In search of  in search of total new ways to compose western music he often uses his own original scales "iceface" which inclides lots of microtones.

京都のアン・ミュージックスクールにてジャズピアノを学んだ後、Midiプログラミングの仕事を始める傍ら、アンビエントやラウンジに影響されたピアノ曲や実験的な哀歌を作り、冬と夏の香りが混在した世界を目指す。


2008年、メキシコの電子音楽の祭典Interface Festival2008に出場、その後スプリットのＥＰをMandorlaよりリリースし、その後映像作品などにも音楽で携わり、自らで映像を作るようにもなる。

●たくさん曲を置いていますが、いつも全曲聴いていただける状態でもなくて、不定期に試聴可能な曲を公開したり制限したりしています。よかったら時々覗いてみてください

●まったく新しい音楽の表現を目指そうという試みのもと、 Icefaceという独自の音律を用いた作品を多く作っています。 微分音を多く含み、珍しい響きがするかもしれません。
