Paperclip and 3xil3 debut on Neuropunk!

As one of Moscow's true veterans one of the scene, it was only a matter of time until Pavel Popovich aka PAPERCLIP shows up here. Way back in 2006 he started his production journey on old-school Techstep labels like Protogen and Shadybrain, but over the years he also appeared on Mindtech Recordings, Neurofunk What Else? and Fokuz Limited. However, he always preferred to manage his releases himself. Since 2010 he runs his own label Paperfunk Recordings, with a focus on Neurofunk that's unforgivingly hard and metallic. Especially in recent years he has become more involved with the Neuropunk brand, from multiple appearances on events to even mixing and hosting some of the podcast episodes. Together with well-known Saint Petersburg based DJ 3XIL3, also known as Andrei Romanov, he now becomes even more entrenched by emerging from the NEUROPUNK FORGE with their double single RASTVOR / VACUUM!

A few decades ago, I worked at a lab where we worked on this chemical solution that enhances an organism's physical properties tenfold, per milligram ingested. Originally we wanted to use RASTVOR, as we called it, on humans, but soon we became interested in applying it to all sorts of animals. Just think about it, super-powered horses or elephants would be simply unstoppable! One day, one of the workers must have left their food unattended, because the next morning our lab was absolutely swarming with rats. Not just normal rats though. They managed to chew through the potion containers and drank every last bit of it. Every technician who took a step into the storage room was immediately jumped and chewed up by the frenzied rodents.
We tried everything. Fire weapons didn't work. Sending in predatory animals didn't work either. Starving them was not a good plan either, as the warehouse had food for months in it. Only after we had exhausted pretty much every other option did we finally arrive at a promising option: Rewire the air conditioning to create a VACUUM in the warehouse and suffocate them! To be absolutely sure, we kept the oxygen levels at zero percent for a full 24 hours, after which we let the air back in so we could start cleaning up. However, before we could even step a foot into the room, the rats had begun moving again. They must have entered some sort of hibernation mode, allowing them to survive long periods of time even without air. We were out of options and not long after we abandoned the warehouse altogether.

It began with a low rumble from all degrees of the horizon, and envelopment of portentous sound that seemed to emanate from everywhere and nowhere all at once. From high above, fluctuations in the jetstream whipped the clouds into a frenzy, stretching, swirling, and blending them into a slate of blackest-grey from within which thunder and lightning began to add their voices to the ensuing cacophony. As the roar on the horizon grew, the very air itself seemed to slip and surge around the sonics that cut through it, churning it from stillness into a great gale that nipped with icy jaws at the flesh of any caught within its flow. Then, as though in a perfectly discordant concert with the air above, the ground itself began to shake, roiling in opposite motion as the second wheel of a planetary mill set to grind those upon the surface into dust. From within the fissures that scarred the Earth’s surface poured rivers of magma that made a cruel mockery of the world’s aqueous veins as they brought death to all with which they intersected and poisoned the air with toxic gasses long kept locked beneath the earth. Those who strove yet to live within this hellish world could not but hear a single voice in their minds, chiding them for forgetting what had always been known, dooming them to watch as the ENSUING CATACLYSM consumed the world that had once been their home.

A burning haze, hangs heavy under the low slung beams of the passing stars. Gravity fights and pulls with the dying light before letting it slide into the FADED tops of the trees. On the outer shelf of the disk on Stavrogen, the forests transform into smokey, swarming metropolis’s full of devils. Eviscerated souls come in and out of view, vanishing as they pass through the ether - the metamorphism of each SHAPESHIFTER is complete as night tightens its grip - darkness is the onlyconcern. On the far North tip, sits the rebel fighter Jstor, her hands lightly pressing down onto the recently stolen NINJA SCROLL. Sweat running over the burning circuits rotting in her flesh. From here, she is perched high in the shadows of the spike, rising up behind her in a thin smoothstructure from the cold deep earth into a point over ten miles high through the burning atmosphere. The rebel Jstor is fighting with her thoughts amongst the noises from below. In under four minutes from now she will destroy this planet and everything that infests it, but she knows she isnot the first to declare her love in this way to this burned out utopia and to have failed in its obliteration. Staring down at the devils caped in madness she begins to muse that every living thing has had its use - Stavrogen must be turned to ruin or it will continue to grow stronger infecting everything it drifts into. Jstor straps the NINJA SCROLL into her chest armour and pushes herself back into the spike. Tapping a broken finger on a small display sewn into the skin on her arm she sends two signals. The first plots an irreversible and fatal course for the disk known as Stavrogen. In 230 seconds from now the pressure between the two poles of the closest stars will fight for Stavrogen, like two ravaged dogs fighting for a bone, pulling it and everything on it into a billion molten pieces. The second signal pushed into the display sets a vice like grip into Jstors body fastening her to the spike and moving her off this world at a speed. Her body instantly hits paralysis and brain hasceased to function as she exits through zero point gravity. Jstor has become a suspended corpse with a 0.1% chance of survival. She is spat into clear space as Stavrogen is sucked away underneath her into the galactic abyss.

ClashTone are an unlikely four piece act that merged in late 2018 to fill a void in the world of Drum and Bass. Eatbrain Label owner and D&B heavy weight Jade found himself curiously interested by the new musical demos’ of three almost obscure Londoners - Terror, Jolliffe and Mai DaVael. Terror previously being one half of the immensely successful Modestep - ClashTone marks his first musical outing since having made his departure from the band. The four producers set out to put music at the front of their writing and pin it down with the power and energy of DNB. The international collaboration gives you the gritty realism of London Town with the truly dark reeses and bass rips and drama found in the mainland European raves and dancehalls. This first EP takes you on an unbroken journey that evokes emotion and pushes the listener to the depths of the soul. Strap in and get ready for the ride through 2019 with a non stop assault on the senses.
