Sørnorsk jazzsenter er et regionalt kompetansesenter for jazz og er et formidlings- og serviceorgan med Agderfylkene og Telemark som geografisk arbeidsområde.

PROMOALBUMENE 1 & 2 (dobbeltalbum): 

JazzSør 2013 er Sørnorsk jazzsenters tredje Promo-CD. Med dette albumet har vi ønsket å vise
et stilmessig bredt spekter av hva som skapes og spilles av jazz i Agder og Telemark.
Musikalsk kvalitet uavhengig av sjanger er lagt til grunn for utvelgelsen av det som presenteres. Samtidig har vi ønsket å speile den spennende aldersmessige og geografiske spennvidden i regionens jazzmusiker-miljø. Dere finner både etablerte profesjonelle musikere, semiprofesjonelle og dyktige amatører på CD-en.

Mirage Ensemble, Papirfly og Igland & Kobberstad Duo er representanter for den nye generasjonen jazzmusikere, mens musikere som Jan Bang, Rune Klakegg, Inger Marie Gundersen og Hilde Hefte er godt kjent for jazzpublikummet langt utenfor Sørnorsk-regionen. Sammen med disse finner dere band og musikere som etter vår oppfatning alle fortjener et stort publikum.
Agder og Telemark har flere storband. Tre av dem er representert på CD-en. Scheen jazzorkester som gjennom samarbeid med SNJS har fått status som regionens store profesjonelle jazzensemble, er representert med spor fra to ulike produksjoner.

Stilmessig rommer JazzSør 2013 vidt forskjellige musikalske uttrykk:
Jan Bangs sampling og programmering sammen med trompet, gitar og gitarsampling. Boschamaz, Haug / Nyborg / Torjussen og Okavangos kombinasjoner av musikkinstrumenter, elektronikk og rytmikk.
Nypan, Christer Fredriksen og Michael Aadal Groups ulike former for moderne melodibasert jazz. SAH!s kraftfulle, tyngre og groovebaserte musikk.
Mirage Ensembles melodiske og groovy jazz med blåsere.
Igland & Kobberstads akustiske gitar-duo med referanser til bl.a. sør-amerikansk musikk.
Vokaljazzen viser også mangfoldet i regionen:
Standardjazz fra kvartetten Lush Life.
Liv Stoveland, Inger Marie Gundersen og LEOs forskjellige uttrykk med melodi- og tekstformidling som sentrale bestanddeler.
Hilde Hefte bidrar med ren a capella. Papirfly presenterer moderne, akustisk jazz med norsk tekst. Ingvild Koksvik tar oss med inn i et lyrisk landskap i grenselandet mellom jazz, vise og folkemusikk.
Den musikalske paletten kompletteres av Rune Klakeggs og Lars Jakob Rudjords akustiske pianotrioer og de tre storbandene; Scheen jazzorkester, Christianssand Storband og Høvåg Storband.

Jazz from southern Norway
JazzSør - Jazz in southern Norway - 2013 is the third promo-CD produced by Sørnorsk jazzsenter (southern Norway Jazz Center).

With this album we want is to show the stylistical broad specter of jazz created and played by bands and artists in our region.
Musical quality regardless of style within the jazz idiom, has been our main objective when selecting the tracks presented on these two discs.
In addition, and in order to show the exciting nature of this regions “jazz-life”, we present artists of different age and from different parts of the region. You will find both well established professional musicians, semi-professionals and skilled amateurs on this CD.

Mirage Ensemble, Papirfly and Igland & Kobberstad Duo represents the promising up and coming jazz-musicians, while artists such as Jan Bang, Rune Klakegg, Inger Marie Gundersen and Hilde Hefte are well known to the jazz-audience both in Southern Norway and far beyond.
Together with these, you will find other bands and musicians who, in our opinion, all deserve a wide audience. Our region has several big bands. Three of them are represented here. Scheen jazzorkester has acquired the status as this regions big professional jazz ensemble through a collaboration with Sørnorsk jazzsenter and is represented with tracks from two different productions.

Stylistically, SørJazz - Jazz in southern Norway - 2013 contains music of large diversity:
Jan Bang ́s sampling and programming fused with trumpet, guitar and guitarsampling. Boschamaz, Haug / Nyborg / Torjussen and Okavango`s combinations of musical instruments, electronics and rhythm.
Nypan, Christer Fredriksen and Michael Aadal Group ́s different forms of modern melody-based jazz.
SAH! ́s powerful, heavy and groove-oriented music.
Mirage Ensemble ́s melodic and groovy jazz with horns.
Ingund & Kobberstad's acoustic guitar-duo with references to South American music.
The vocal jazz presented on the album also displays a large diversity:
The standardjazz-approach of the quartet Lush Life.
Liv Stoveland, Inger Marie Gundersen and LEO ́s different ways of displaying melody and lyrics as fundamental parts of their music.
Hilde Hefte ́s track is pure a capella.
The band Papirfly presents modern, acoustic jazz with Norwegian lyrics.
Ingvild Koksvik invites us into a lyrical landscape with elements from jazz, singer/songwrighter and folk.
The musical palette is completed by the two acoustic piano trios of Rune Klakegg and Lars Jakob Rudjord, and the three big bands; Scheen jazzorkester, Christianssand Storband and Høvåg Storband.

I am a producer and musician from Sweden who lives in Kristiansand, Norway. Me and my wife Inger Marie Lohne, are writing music together and we want to share it with people who appreciate our music.

We use Pro Tools with an RME interface together with a BAE 1073 preamp. For voice recording we use a condenser Ehrlund EHR-M which I am very satisfied with.

Korleis kan ein lytte med nye øyre på nokre av dei mest kjente klassikarane frå jazzlitteraturen? 
Og korleis tolke ein gigant som Chet Baker i ny, norsk kontekst?

Baker Hansen har sidan 2010 laga sine eigne musikalske forteljingar, baserte på musikken som Chet Baker spelte. Historiane er tidlause og velkjente, men teksten er omarbeidd til norsk og framført på dialekt av vokalist Sigurd Rotvik Tunestveit frå Ål i Hallingdal. På vårt eige mål kjem musikken og innhaldet brått nærare på oss - og konsertane vert ei øyreopnande oppleving som publikum på godt over 200 konserter i Noreg og Sverige kan fortelje om. Me har dei seinare år inngått eit samarbeite med saxnestor John Pål Inderberg.

Baker Hansen har gjeve ut tre album med Chet på norsk, Ei som deg (2014), Gamle Daga (2016). og Live i Oslo med John Pål Inderberg (2019).
