Paddy Scahill

Paddy got into DJing aged 16, playing tunes at house parties for his friends. He eventually got some gigs on a 'very dodgy' pirate radio station - situated underneath a cab office in central Dublin.

Paddy's earliest DJ influences were 90’s Dublin legends Warren K and Derek M and UK colossus Sasha. 

Fast forward to Paddy's debut on Dublin's gay scene, playing at the dragged-up electroclash lovechild of Dublin legends Panti & Veda, CandiPanti at Wax on Tuesdays. A residency at Hilton Edwards on bank holiday weekends followed soon. From there, he graduated to deck duty at legendary Friday night club H.A.M. at The Pod. 

When H.A.M. finally wound up in 2005, Paddy secured a weekly spot at The Dragon (Dublin's biggest gay club) where he remained for nine years until its closure in 2014. 

Over the last fifteen years, Paddy's played most of Dublin's hotspots: Switch, Spirit, Pantibar, Sauce at The Kitchen/Code 23, DTM, Bonanza, Alegria, Ginger, Qween, Profile, Euphoria, numerous after-parties and more. 

He joined forces with Pushee in 2015 to launch Aerach (the Irish word for ‘gay’). The club was renowned for its fresh slant on Dublin clubbing and emphasis on high quality local and international talent.

Paddy's been resident at Bukkake in Cafe en Seine (formerly Soder & Ko, 4 Dame Lane  - and originally at The Purty Kitchen) on bank holiday Sundays for ten years now. He follows that up with another residency at Rollover Disco in Odessa on Bank Holiday Monday afternoons, where the real party people keep it lit! 

He's a regular guest at underground, unashamedly queer Friday night club Sweatbox. He also recently played at the launch of club kid trash-queen party, Taboo.  Festival-wise, Paddy played at thisispopbaby's infamous arena of homocentricity at Electric Picnic three years in a row.

Paddy’s also been securing guest slots around Europe in recent years. He  co-hosts the monthly ‘Gay Burn Show’ on Phever with fellow Dublin scene veteran, DJ Karen.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.

Desert Dwellers is a pioneering electronic music project that bridges the ancient and the future, fusing deep bass, world instrumentation, and psychedelic textures into immersive sonic journeys. Founded in 1999 by Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, the project grew out of the legendary Moontribe gatherings in the deserts of Southern California and Santa Fe, New Mexicos desert rave scene. 

Blending influences from many genres, Desert Dwellers has released dozens of albums and remixes, toured across five continents, and collaborated with an eclectic array of artists from around the world. Their music has graced stages at Symbiosis, Ozora, Lightning in a Bottle, Boom, Envision, Shambhala, and Burning Man, resonating with audiences through both meditative journeys and powerful dancefloor experiences.

In 2026, Desert Dwellers will enter its most significant evolution yet. Co-founder Amani Friend will be stepping away from touring to focus on studio production and other creative pursuits, while a new collaborator joined the project, acclaimed producer and mixing/mastering engineer Sarkis Mikael. While continuing to honor the project’s signature sound and ethos “Music Beyond Borders,” Desert Dwellers is now expanding into bold new sonic territories. Sarkis, with releases on respected labels like Sol Selectas, Saisons, and Hoomidaas, brings a fresh creative spark and deep musical integrity.
