Rare Wiri bring us remixes of four tracks culled from two previous Manolo EPs, March's 'Amalfi Drive' and May's 'Paseo Maritimo'. Ilya Santana gets the ball rolling with a typically spangly, 80s-inspired take on 'Phobos', before another Mediterranean disco legend - label boss Rayko, of course - steps up with a dark, broody and chuggin' take on 'Paseo Maritimo'. Sauco's remix of 'Amalfi Drive' stands out for the decidedly Yellow Magic Orchestra-esque otherworldly synth that shimmers along at the top throughout, before finally Super Fu's remix of 'Away' drops the tempo considerably to play us out on a hazy, Balearic note.

This intriguing track, with a throbbing texture, will lead us, in a hypnotic and constant way, into sideral space, while confirming the magisterium of this Madrid producer, when it comes to assembling different languages with elegance and sophistication.

We're big fans of the Relish Comp (@headman) series, so we were excited when the most recent instalment arrived a few weeks ago. As to be expected, Relish Comp V features an amazing array on tracks from some of the hottest artists around at the moment. Including Borusiade, Curses, Mondowski, Sebastien Chenut, Autarkic, Headman, Younger Than Me, Pin up Club, The Mansisters and Maya Danon. 

Our favourite track has changed a number of times, which shows what a great package this is. but in the end this beauty from @youngerthanme edged it and we've had on repeat these past weeks. We're sure you'll love it too.

PREMIERE - Younger Than Me  - Universal Love (Relish Comp V)

Rebolledo’s YOU AND YOUR HIPPIE FRIENDS imprint grows its groove footprint on international dance floors with the full-length debut of GÜERO @guerogroove, the latest vinyl outing from the Hippie Dance sister label and also its first fully fledged album project. To attentive hippie friends, the artist name should ring a big, funky bell – one that sounds exactly like the cut “Convertible Ride” from the notorious “A Very Nice Combinado Volume Uno” 12” release (YAYHF 01).

Back then, our hero was travelling under the somewhat more convoluted “El Güero Fresa” monicker, but has since dropped some of those conceptual pounds in an effort to reach maximum sleekness. In the same vein, his debut album is a testament to ultimate funk-a-ficiency, digging deep into fizzy arpeggios and chunky basslines - and the occasional guitar cameo, giving tracks such as bubbling synth opener ELEKTRONIQUE, the neon-lit NIGHT CRUISING, bouncing electro disco roller ALTO FINAL or the programmatic SPACE DRIFTER just that little extra riff.

GUITAR MAYHEM, however, is anything but – you’ll discover a pretty dank bouncer and certainly not the squealing meltdown one would expect. TECHNO MINIMAL doesn’t do what it says on the tin, either, opting for an energetic bass ‘n’ organ workout instead. By now, you’ll begin to understand why the album’s called MY WAY MY RULES: GÜERO takes whatever sonic path he desires, no matter what - which is precisely why he chimes so well with YOU AND YOUR HIPPIE FRIENDS’s steadily expanding motley crew of rave misfits and studio drop-outs. The way of the hippie is indeed a mysterious one.

‘Escape From Kyoto’ opens the release, incorporating worldly percussion, a staggering arpeggiated bass hook and trippy lo-fi sonic tones creating a raw energetic movement. Subtle filter-modulation on the atmospheric elements make for a vacillating flow throughout the composition, while 80’s style synthesizers are worked in to the break giving off an effortlessly cool retro vibe. The vintage feel is further brought to fruition by working back in the rugged arp-line in combination with a vocoded spoken-word, further fuelling the old school aesthetic.

Freeride Millenium welcome Jerome Slesinski and Jon Arnold aka Super Drama for their label debut in the shape of three track EP ‘XoXo’, which comes accompanied by a stellar remix from Ervadoce.
London-based Super Drama have rapidly gained momentum amongst the LGBTQ electronic music scene since making their debut two years ago, releasing material on their Super Drama Records imprint, Moshi Moshi and Discotexas. The duo have featured as guests on Rinse FM with Joshua James, NTS and Haai’s Worldwide FM show, whilst hosting their very own club nights at Dalston Superstore in London and at Freeride Millenium’s label party in Stuttgart, Germany.
Super Drama continue to build their impressive discography by making their debut on Freeride Millenium with the stellar ‘XoXo’. The record is backed by a remix from Ervadoce, which is the alter ego of Paraiso man Shcuro, and his partner Maria Amor, who is also one half of A.M.O.R. with Violet from naive. Our today choice is Ervadoce’s remix which leads us down a darker path, combining deep and captivating vocals with eerie synths and dazzling tones over a mid tempo rhythm to deliver a truly nebulous production.
