The journey of Hug Records started six months ago and we are delighted that we had already five amazing artists contributing to our project. @thomas-gaarthuis was one of the first artists to commit to this back in July. We decided to open this year with a beautiful edit of the Fugees from him. We usually check with the original artists before releasing edits, but neither Wyclef Jean nor his ageny headmusic replied to our email. We love the edit though and we decided to release it nevertheless. However, it is on donation basis and you can decide yourself how much you want to pay. 100% of the income from this track will go to our charity partner Love Foundation. Love Foundation will use this money for its water development project in Kenia and you can read all about them and the project here: www.love-foundation.org/about We are already looking forward to the next steps on our journey and wish you a great start in the new year. After starting the journey of Heimlich Musik by contributing the very first EP to be released on the label, Basel-based producer ĂVEM is returning to the Viennese imprint now with a unique collection of impressions deriving from his latest inspirations and collaborations – all packed into one colorful EP. The title “Halcyon” refers to a Greek myth about Kingfishers leaving the listener touched with some kind of emotional ambivalence.

Three of four tracks are featuring guests and it’s all family business with Arutani and Dandara on the one hand while also establishing new connections with Zazou on the other hand. The title track “Halcyon” featuring Arutani is based on a unique melancholic mood, and “Untitled” featuring Zazou is pushing this melancholic vibe even further all the way to the maximum, using a powerful melody that immediately evokes goosebumps when dropped just at the right moment. “Plastikmenschen” with Dandara & Arutani unites the best that Basel has to offer when it comes to deep club tracks using complex drum patterns, creating an intense drive that will push you through any night. “Oh Wieso” serves as a guide through confusing festival experiences, seeming to lose track of time but always coming back to a straight direction into trippy times.

ĂVEM’s “Halcyon” EP is an ode to friendship, and all the inspirations and impressions that these special connections create – a very well fit into the whole concept of Heimlich Musik.

You want summer? Unfortunately you gotta be a little more patient... but hey, here is a little summer preview: a delicious Piña Colada, mixed by an uprising talent based in Paris - that goes by the name of „Quatri“.

Originally from Damascus, Quatri delivers a journey through light and darkness with his music - his sound is based on emotive melodies, developed with the help of electronic elements and the organic structure of the atmosphere and percussions. Quatri’s releases find themselves somewhere between dreamy and groovy – like his beautiful and most recent release on the Israelian label Loot Records, a remix of Silence Path’s Nebula.

Born in the dark streets of Cairo, grown to the unforgettable forests of Santa Esmeralda, spending its teen years in Bombay and Tangier markets, mature into the deep spacey Jungle of Ghana we proudly present you a new label from the land of the pyramids: SHANGO RECORDS invites you to an unheard world music psychedelic trip: like through a colorful kaleidoscope we will melt down Indian and Pakistani Vibes, Arab-Tek and Oriental groovy vibes, Afro-Beat rhythms n' pieces, Cumbia Tropicana flavors and cosmic Ghetto-Latin vibes into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals. Outside traditional paths these driving grooves and polyphonic structures take the adventure seeking dancer to Dionysian highs and places never been before.
At the very hub of this wheel which is falling apart, is Beauty. And it will keep on rolling until everything that has gone to make up the wheel has disintegrated. The wallpaper with which the men of science have covered the world of reality is falling to tatters. The grand whorehouse which they have made of life requires no decoration; it is essential only that the drains function adequately. Beauty, that feline beauty which has us by the balls all around the world, is finished. To fathom the new reality it is first necessary to dismantle the drains, to lay open the gangrened ducts which compose the genito-urinary system that supplies the excreta of art.
