[disquiet0566] Attention

On the way home tonight I created the three melodies in my head, one in 5/8, the next in 6/8 and the last one in 7/8. I looped them together played at the same time (133 beats per minutes) played mellotron, and added the effects after. Quite pleased with this, fairly quick experiment, the patterns reminds me of early Matt Johnson / The The, the kind of post-punk psychedelia he did in his early recordings.

This is my submission for this week's Disquiet Junto project. The assignment was to create a piece of music that moves between and overlays 5/8, 6/8 and 7/8 time signatures.

This week's Disquiet Junto assignment is to make music that moves between 5/8, 6/8 and 7/8. The main phrase of this is 2 bars of each. 

The opening synth and the claps are doing something different. 

The first synth plays 5 bars of 5/8, then 5 of 6/8, then 5 of 7/8, back down to 6/8, back down to 5/8, and repeat...

The claps are constant polymeters - three patterns, one in each time signature, happening at the same time.

Jet Jaguar - The Establishment [disquiet0567] (Free download)

I'm oh too familiar with nightmares, often wish for sweeter dreams. Glad to know more of the C69 chord then. I had great fun doing this with the Garageband Clavs, strings and Steinway. Apart from a couple of accidental notes I just just the notes of the chord, evoking the nightmare through pitch bend, flangers and phasers.
