Laurence Blake aka Citizenn has crafted incredible beats for the likes of 2020 Vision, MadTech and Love Fever and now, the Nottingham born producer is set to release his debut full-length, Human Interface, on the legendary Crosstown Rebels. A man of many talents, Citizenn also lends his hand to film directing and cites technology as the main inspiration for this album. “I wanted to explore this idea of humanity infusing with technology and how we have become completely dependent upon it to survive. Each track on the record is based on a particular theme of human emotion or technological/mechanical attribute and it's relation to the world of electronic music.” Now we welcome the award winning DJ into the mix with this week’s i-DJ.

The phrase 'ankle buster' originated in surf culture as a reference to the kind of small, rolling wave that leaves your tarsus in tatters. Aussie house duo Cut Snake's latest mix, though, titled 'Maybe Why Not' in honor of their new single, is so stuffed with groovy house jams that you should be concerned for your ankles as it'll have you jacking with some vigor.
Stuffed with winners from Dusky, Doorly, Leftwing & Kody, Justin Jay and Cassian, the mix is centered around their own "Maybe Why Not," made with the obviously Aussily named Wongo.

Since I was a kid I’ve always had trouble finding the focus. May it be focus on homework, reading a book or work-related stuff. The only way for me achieve that is through music. By becoming one with repetitive and hypnotic beats, dissolving into the sound, into the subtle dynamics, chanting vocals, high-hats and atmospheres coming and going, layers on top of the deep caressing bass. The music becomes eternal as our world keeps rotating, seconds turn into minutes into hours. One needs to dive deep into the music, embrace it in order to find peace of mind and focus in our everyday physical world.

This tape is made up of 11 tracks, looped, layered and repeated on the go. Most of the time there are at least 3 tracks playing at once. The mission is to create a meditative trance state with beats, loops and patterns, coming and disappearing, sometimes being right in front of you, sometimes just making love in the background. But never disapearing completely.

All tour dates were partnered with non-profit organisation Bridges for Music. The aim was to use music to break down socio-economic boundaries bringing people from different communities together . Each one will attempt to capture the feeling and direction of the night, giving those who were there a reminder of the events they experienced while giving those who were not present a fragmented distortion of what they missed.
