Back to the fold with the first extract taken from his upcoming debut long-player on A Tribe Called Kotori, Fabian Krooss takes us to a delicate and transporting headspace with his twofold single, "Oh Darlin'". Infused with laid-back Chicagoan rhythms and feelgood Afro soulfulness, this opening brace of cuts from the German producer weaves solar-powered sensitivity with vaporous floor dynamics to hypnotic effect. An ode to impro and the free-flowing power of gut instinct, Krooss' newest offering translates thousands of places, feelings, moments and encounters into a buoyant melting-pot of debonair grooviness. "Producing has a meditative and balancing effect on me" Krooss says, and it definitely shines through in these, as we're taken on a seamless ride up serene moodscapes and ethereal club-ready apexes.  

A track that "captures my musical vision like no other" in Krooss' own admission, "Oh Darlin'" oozes a cross-pollinating elixir of hi-NRG house and folk-informed downtempo, gracefully threading its way in limbo between proper DJ-friendly functionality and loungey hedonism. Composed earlier this year and refined over the summer, "Oh Darlin'" stacks positive energies and beams them across the room like a vital call to channel the good vibes and move in the direction of love and unity. The second track, "Staring", recorded in collaboration with Samaha during his stay in Seattle in March 2023, engineers a nice mix of both artists' distinct melodic universes, while encapsulating memories from Krooss' journey in North America. A further balmy slice of atmospheric electronica tinged with hints of dream-pop and balearic house, "Staring" cruises at its own tranquil pace across colour-shifting horizons and gently jagged reliefs, ready to soak up full sound systems with its soothing, poetic funk. Lush as it gets.

Drawing in a more subdued palette of rhythmic elements, sprinkled with an eerie melody and stripped-back synth funk, 'Inside of Me' makes for a perfect transition track, with 'Manaki' going a further jagged route, as Krooss draws further deep into the Italo style, infusing his stellar arps and brittle piano chords with a thick FX gravy. Contorting itself at the junction of straightforward jack and a more prog-minded construction that seem tailored for stadiums, 'Elasticity' (with Atish) finds Krooss at his most precise and adroitly versatile. Beaming up unadulterated joy and sunrays across its six minute-ish ride, 'Coquin' bounces back and forth, ushering us into a jam-packed hacienda where the thick volutes of freshly lit havanas coalesce with the exhilarating scent of ron. A trippy ride down memory lane, 'Back To The Oldschool' conjures up images and components straight out the 90s, buzzing with that fun swash of hip-hop and tech-tinged hybrid. A delicate slab of balearic-informed deep house, 'Mtende' serves up a lascivious mishmash of coastal iridescence and sub-Saharan style polyrhythms. Topping off that broad sweep across house's manifold colour chart, 'Tied In Knots' (feat. Harry Charles) treats us to an elevating mix of Spanish guitars and 303-marinated acid bass, taking us from classicism up the modernist ladder in the blink of an eye.

Serving up hot new joints one after the other, label habitué Fabian Krooss is back with a vengeance this spring. Taking his talents to Kotori again, Krooss takes us on a compellingly poetic ride with 'Time'. An invitation to "remain present with the moment rather than letting your potentially negative thought spirals and judgements distract you from the good stuff right in front of you", this new effort finds the German producer blending his unmatched tune-making with a sixth-sense for manufacturing groovy tracks that hold a life-affirming message.

Built around a sample of T-Bone Walker’s Hypin’ Woman Blues, 'Keep Movin' is slo-burning house on a dreamy tip, mixing a "deep, steady rolling bassline with the lightness of sparkly, floaty and harmonious synthlines on top perfectly capturing the message of the track". The title-track, 'Time' - a collaboration with Auckland/New Zealand based vocalists Mia Kober & DirdyGerdi, is about "acting rather than complaining, about making things better, rather than watching the world go down". Through a chiselled piece of sound design moving from appeasing ethereality to sizzling tension, Krooss has us shifting gears, summoning that deep-seated will in us to regain control over our life, to reclaim our time and inhabit it afresh. For real. For good.

Timmy Regisford has released two great albums on Tribe Records, 'At The Club' in 2011 and 'Covers', in October last year. We're delighted by those, but too many months have passed since we last released a single by Mr Regisford.

It's time to rectify this, and Timmy Regisford Remixed will do that. Claude Monnet kicks off a double whammy of Regisford remixes by taking the classic 'At The Club' in a fresh new direction.

- what was it that drew him to want to remix 'At The Club'?

'Without any doubt it was the vocal,' says Monnet. 'The first time I heard it, I loved the vocal and the lyrics. It reminded me of the early 1990's NY vocal house tracks. I chose a more deep and dark direction but the result is quite sexy anyway. "Cheek to cheek, sex to sex!" That's the hook, isn't it?
