Somewhere lurking under the last leaves on the ground, squirming and squelching with the mycelium and microorganisms, we find Timnahs sonic world tucked away in a sacred place. Taking inspiration from the natural world, she has solidified a name for herself as a purveyor of psychedelic rhythms and carefully curated cacophonies. As a resident at the renowned Elysia club in Basel, she has honed her skills further and expanded her sound into ambient and experimental territories. 

This edition of Unrush is a testament to Timnah's ear for the uncanny and sense for crafting a dynamic narrative. Solemn drones guide us like a soft breeze into the winter months, only interrupted by washes of organic textures and subtle electronics. We hope you enjoy this masterful mix from one of Switzerland's finest.

One tribe, one rhythm, one heart
The 90s and early 2000s in Madrid were defined by a sound that sat somewhere between house and techno, dub and acid. Clubs like WEEKEND with Roberto Rodríguez, or Midday and The Room, led by Ángel García with guests like Garth or Swag, paved the way. The influence of the West Coast sound from the U.S. and European house with dub and tech-house reminiscences captivated us from the DJ booths of these legendary clubs in the Spanish capital.

The first rotary mixers started appearing, rhythms slowed down, and transitions became longer, giving DJs a new kind of artistic presence that hadn’t been seen before. This was pure artistry, and yes, the drugs were good, too. Fridays and Sundays, the tribe would gather to soak up the freshest sounds—the avant-garde.

Mission District is just a neighborhood in San Francisco, yet it shares a deep connection with Madrid. The same spirit was in the air, at the same time, with the same gurus shaping the scene.

This is not a "remember" session. This is not a tribute. We could never do it better than it was done back then. We simply want to dust off those records, blend them with equally special sounds being produced today, and let them breathe again.

As with most niche trends, some of these records might sound aged—or perhaps still incredibly modern.

Menou is the first act presenting her Live Act which creates a Drone and Beautiful ambient soundscape. Menou's act is just out of this world, very detailed and very pleasant to the listeners ear.

Elias Garcia comes on the second act with a Sci-Fi DJ set that brings you to the most further places of space. Energetic, hypnotic and immersive

Jorge Fons is the last act where he presents all the music that has been released in Wabi Sabi and that is going to be released in the future. Wabi Sabi at it's core: Immersion, sound design, details and music that tells a story.

About the mix: "This mix is heavily inspired by my recent experiences at Pe:rsona and Ozora festivals, which I attended back-to back straight from one to the other. I found a resurgence in deeper and slowly evolving sets which felt so fresh I wanted to channel that energy into this mix. Best enjoyed outdoors or afters!"

caroune  (@caroune-dem) is a London-based DJ and the co-founder of Osmura (@osmura) record label, event and mix series. Her versatile sound blends downtempo, dubstep, percussive techno and drum&bass creating immersive, sensorial journeys filled with wonder and uplifting energy. For the past two years, Caroune has played at underground venues in London, Paris and Brussels as well as European Festivals. She will be hosting her next Osmura night at Ormside Projects in London this month where she will be playing alongside international artists. This year, her label launched its first vinyl release with UK-based talent, Sub Basics, and a new VA will be announced soon.

Note: This set has been recorded live in September 2025 at Ouroboros festival in France. I played on Sunday afternoon (my favourite slot!), it was raining so I tried to lift the mood with some dubstep, warm percussion, and deep bass notes. The crowd really connected with the sound and slowly started dancing under the rain...

Yoshitaka Shirakura (@user-309855222) is a Tokyo-based DJ and event organizer specializing in Techno, Ambient, and Avant-garde music. Since 2015, he has been actively booking avant-garde live performances at dance parties, bridging genres and expanding musical perspectives. In 2019, he began performing solo drone live sets using a bass guitar. Since 2022, he has also been performing live hardware sets.

Florian aka MORDIO (@mordiomusic) is a Berlin-based music producer and teacher. With years of experience in the field, he is known for his rich sound design in both groovy primal instinct techno and soft meditative texture-based ambient. Alongside his music, he shares his knowledge with the world through online tutorials and courses.

Author's note: It's evening. Guitar, TORSO S4 sampler, SOMA Cosmos pedal. Incense. Candle. Everything on my desk in front of me. I breathe. I connect. I press record. The guitar melody loops, slightly offset, until it becomes a texture placed into a space so vast it transforms into a drone. Here the journey begins. I let go of consciousness and become the medium. No control just intuition. Textures recorded throughout the year, moments from my life, atmospheres. Blended with effects and soundscapes that ease me into meditation. After an hour, I come back. It is what it is. Fully improvised. Left as is. I hope it brings you down in these stressful times.

I am very excited to present the first externally contributed Deep Mind Music mix by my friend @moonbowmusic

I made the first @Deep-Mind-Music mix - https://soundcloud.com/syberkid/deep-mind-music-vol-1 - just as a way to tie together and catalogue the ambient tracks that had meant a lot to me that summer. Since then, Deep Mind Music mixes have become a solace for me, a personal space to explore sound and emotion. 

In the last two years Moonbow and I have been sharing ambient music with each other, and both love and appreciate this form of music. I've been toying with the idea of expanding these mixes into a mix series for a while, and asked if Moonbow would like to make one for me. They have put together a beautiful journey reflecting on Seasonal Affective Disorder, just in time to counter the January blues. 

They say: "The mix is supposed to be a kind of anxiety relieving mix for S.A.D that starts out quite emotional and quiet in a very raw and real way, dives into a v insular dream world that is sometimes peacefully meditative and sometimes quite an intensely dark emotional excavation, and then it has healing and wholesome ending of clarity"
