It has been quite some time since the last time we gathered for a night of MBTS. I wanted to take some time after the pandemic to be quiet and see how the dance music scene would evolve, and what sounds would come out of the standstill that was Covid. Now that I have a good sense of where I want to be sonically, and what kind of energy I want to spread onto dance floors, I am ready to restart MBTS in 2023. Isaiah Martin has been an integral part of programming the music for PlayAlchemist for years and is our Music Maestro for the annual Alchemist Ball. This year he invited Snow Raven to perform live with him and the magic was electric! Their set was completely unrehearsed and a pure flow state of music. Taking you back to that portal opening sunrise….

SNOW RAVEN - SUOR was born in one of the most remote and cold inhabited places in the world - the Republic of Sakha - Yakutia (arctic Siberia). She was three years old when she started to learn the language of birds and animals. Her voice takes its breath from traditional Sakha culture and is truly an instrument. She is the OG of “arctic beatbox” - the reindeer breath and the founder of OLOX, the NEOshamanic Portal to a Decentralized Humanity, Earth and Consciousness.

"I had a musically transformational experience in front of the robot heart bus years ago.  At that moment, I made a promise to myself that the next time I stepped foot on the bus, it would be to play.  Fast forward 5 years later…it’s 2am Monday night, about 30 min before my set, and I’m sitting in the deep playa with a close friend watching the bus make it’s way towards us from the city.  It was a moment that I will never forget.  This was what all the hard work was for.

To me, this mix represents a small microcosm of one of the things I learn over and over again every time I go to Burning Man; with patience, persistence, resilience, and positive intention, you can achieve anything.

After 8 years this is our last year bringing the Disco Knights camp back to Burning Man. I made this mix with the long drive to Burning Man in mind. Every year the drive up is a very interesting part of the journey for me… I think of it as the emotive start to the burn experience. This year in particular as it’s the last year we’re bringing our disco space ship to the playa. So the anticipation of all the memories of the last 8 years that I know are going to be flying through my mind made me want to play a set that I can rock during the drive through Tahoe hills. Not necessarily a mix of my favorite tracks played at the camp or even a representation of it, but more the feelings I’d like to remember looking back at the last 8 years.

This Thursday 2nd of July we have a very special episode of Dave Bianchi’s From The Source, with none other than Bob Moses filling the guest slot. The Vancouver bred duo, consisting of Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance, came to life in the Brooklyn underground scene in 2012.
