His work is rooted in paying respect to Black ethos: tying together the loose ends of Black spirit, Black influence and Black inspiration into one braid. Raised in the Southern Black Baptist church, phlegm uses dance music and the dance floor as a site of release. At its core his style is an affirmation of life. So, let’s go to church.
