Old Pine

Recorded in 1977 - something that came to me all at once words and all. Nothing ever came to/through me "all at once" like this. I let several people listen to this, when it was just 12 string and mandolin, but the looks on their faces told me all I needed to know so this got shelved, even though it is one of my favorites.

I finally got a friend, Joe Kaniuga, (pronounced ka-nooga) to listen to this and agree to add a lead guitar to it. Joe did make this tune much more acceptable and his version is far better than my attempt to put a lead guitar to it. Joe had never heard this before and went through it three times before recording it, all in about 20 minutes.

I have other versions of this but those are in storage. After adding a lead to this it "sort of" became a jam instead of a finished song. It is finished now and several versions have been recorded. You can thank me later that you are not listening to a few of the versions of this.

Look To Your Soul

I know if I'd been wiser this would never have occurred - but I wallowed in my blindness so it's plain that I deserve - for the sin of self-indulgence when the truth was writ quite clear - I must spend my life amongst the dead who spend their lives in fear - of a death that they're not sure of, of a life they can't control - It's all so simple really if you just look to your soul - for there's nothing hidden anywhere, it's all there to be sought!
And so if you know anything look closely at the time - at others who remain untrue and don't commit that crime
