Esta canción la escribí en una servilleta de papel de un bar, esperando al comprador de los 40 gramos de oro que una amiga me dio para que se lo vendiera, ya que tenia que pagar el hospital donde estaba ingresada, le habían diagnosticado de un cancer terminal y sólo le quedaba dias o un par de semanas de vida. Dos semanas después de que escribí esta canción, ella falleció en companía de su hijo. Canción dedicada a Laura Linares, que en paz descanse.

los minutos no querían caminar,
a la verónica la vi pasar,
con un pantalón ajustado,
y las tetas y el sostén todos falsos,
con su bulto entre las piernas que nunca quizo operar.

creí que era el único bicho raro,
no sabía que éramos tantos

Las horas no pasaban y ahi esperaba,
en ese bar con 40 gramos de oro,
era dorado y liviano y parecia una lata,
era un favor para una amiga que estaba enferma,
queria pagar el hospital donde estaba.

Cuarenta gramos no pudieron pagar, 
la salud cuando te dan la mala noticia,
que el cáncer ya se ha extendido,
y que a la muerte toca esperar.
Y estos cuarenta gramos de esperanza frágil,
no pesan nada frente al silencio de una lágrima.
No curan el rumor de la mala noticia,
ni devuelven el color a la mejilla pálida.
El oro brilla, pero no ilumina la noche,
solo alumbra lo que ya no se puede tener.

Tantas historias cruzan por este bar,
un mosaico de risas y de sinsabores.
Una madre joven, con furia de existir,
le grita a su hijo por un helado que se le cayó.
Más allá, otra con paciencia de maestra,
le explica el mundo con migas de medialuna.

Y dos amantes en una pelea feroz,
él juraba amor eterno, ella le mostró la puerta.
Él con las manos temblándole de más,
ella con el orgullo crujiéndole la voz.
Y yo aquí, con un tesoro en la palma,
testigo mudo de cómo se derrumba el alma.

Y la vida, como un río desde esta ventana,
lleva sueños rotos y semillas de alegría.
Es un tejido de hilos dorados y oscuros,
donde la muerte y un helado se cruzan en la acera.
Y yo, solo un hilacho suelto en esta trama,
aprendí que el valor no se pesa, se siente adentro.
