Cologne-based producer @philippstoffel launches @akteaudio label with a debut solo EP, bolstered with a remix by fellow German artist VRIL. Ahead of its release, we turn our attention to the refracted dub workout 'Radius'. Its title offers a subtle nod to Stephen Hitchell’s production alias, hinting at the track’s lineage. 'Radius' unfolds as a deep, spacious dub techno piece — rich in atmosphere and laced with intermittent sci-fi electronics that ripple through its sparse, immersive soundscape.

a recent single on Innervisions and an appearance on Life & Death, his latest offering 
‘Another Thing’ marks a departure into more atmospheric soundscapes.

The murky grandeur of the title track lends itself to moody textures that build in narrative, 
walking a knife-edge between industrial techno and minimalist dub. ‘TrySome’ conjures the 
setting of a dilapidated warehouse rave at 5am, while ‘Makeless’, with its low-slung 
percussive elements draped over misty pads and imposing bass, draws the listener further 
into Monoloc’s wormhole.

Rebellion is music for the early hours and Israeli Magit Cacoon brings five original tracks to the label, with her enchanting ‘Subterranean Fiction EP’.

Tel Aviv’s Magit Cacoon is both DJ and producer. Currently residing in Berlin, she has been producing music with fellow artist Oliver Deutschmann for over five years. After meeting Damian Lazarus on her home ground, he soon signed the EP and welcomed her to Rebellion. Japanese DJ, composer, producer and vocalist Hideyo Blackmoon features in the opening track ‘Journey to Venus’ and sets the tone for an ethereal and otherworldly EP. ‘Subterranean Fiction’ is a “voyage through a complex underground universe, where one has the opportunity to immerse himself omnisciently in the sounds and vibrations,” says Magit Cacoon of the material.

Celebrated for her ability to discover new talent, Magit became Berlin’s Sweat Lodge Radio resident and founder of the label Girl Scout in 2011. Her remix for the UK act Porcupine Tree and releases on Upon.You Records strengthened her position within the dance scene. Displaying how versatile she is, Magit is currently working on the official remix for infamous rock musician Steven Wilson.

Do you believe in conincidences?

I don’t - anymore. I used to believe in conincidences but I’ve learned that everything happens for a reason. And that everything in life happens for you, not to you.

So, I have been busying myself with the idea of an remix album of classic tracks of mine for quite some time. But I struggled with the selection of tracks and which remix artist to pair with which track.  Until certain people entered my life. Some of them I only „met“ through their music on social media and never in person, others I met briefly, like in a car to a festival and some I started to hang out with and they became real life friends. All of these people connect with my music and I feel drawn to their music and in many ways we insprire each other.  As a natural result this remix EP took shape and I am excited to present it to you. The record contains four remixes of tracks from my back catalogue that cover a period of 20 (!) years, from my early days on Bush in the mid 90s to my first label Spiel-Zeug Schallplatten in the 00`s up until now, where I run Electric Ballroom from Berlin. Hotflush is a record label launched by Paul Rose aka Scuba in 2003. Its early period was spent as a central part of London's Bass Music scene which exploded in the mid 2000s, although the label has always been difficult to pigeonhole musically and recent output has focused on Techno and House.
