Dillon Francis' "Without You (feat. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs)" receives a much deserved remix package with 7 distinct new takes on the hit single! Remixes come from a diverse group of producers, with each one bringing a completely different angle to Dillon's subtle and infectious song with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.

Dillon kicks things off with his own rework, morphing his track into a big room electro-house tune that's followed up by the super heavy collab from legendary bass kings Flux Pavilion and Doctor P. Henry Fong and Torro Torro introduce massive dance anthems with their "Without You" remixes, countered perfectly by a diverse trio of softer house versions by Treasure Fingers, Hayden James and Low Steppa.

London-based migrant, Ross Tones, makes music under the ever so pertinent moniker, Throwing Snow. Drawing influence from a vast array of genres, his production work possesses consistent and comforting warmth, while still glistening with a serene kind of steely coldness. After a series of acclaimed releases on labels like Local Action, Ho Tep, Sneaker Social Club and his own Snowfall imprint, Tones has since signed an exclusive solo album deal with Houndstooth, following the release of his collaborative project Snow Ghosts on the label in 2013/14.

The songs on Pathfinder are a route into a greater portion of work, giving a sense of what is to come. The overall sound palette and feelings portrayed are what matter, not genre, and the intention of Pathfinder is to be listened to on journeys. The track titles on the EP are meant to reflect the music itself, with lead single “The Tempest” building into sounds of a storm and “Pathfinder” evoking a tense and lost feeling before opening out into a clearing.

This weekend 403DNB will be hosting Calgary's first ever urban drum and bass music festival. This event will take place on the 19th and 20th of June and will span 3 separate venues to showcase the best in international and local drum and bass talent as well as a broad array of styles. On Friday the 19th we will be playing host to one of the best and most cutting edge labels in the game. Critical Music continues to push the boundaries of the genre and these three producers will be here to showcase that. Saturday will feature 2 events, the first of which will be a daytime ragga jungle rinseout with Jamaican Buffet. Later that evening we have some legendary business as 2 of the pioneers of the genre, Mampi Swift and Aphrodite will be making the trip over the Atlantic to provide those old school vibes that we all know and love. This truly will be a weekend for the Junglists. BOH!

Guy Andrews often found himself seeking some form of musical escapism prior to his DJ sets, leading him to one day return home and delete all of his old synth patches. “I’m starting this again with the aim to actually really enjoy what I’m doing” he thought, as he embarked on a musical reinvention of himself. So begun his writing for his debut album ‘Our Spaces’, over a period of two years. 

Ignoring previously used DJ-friendly structures, tempos, and mix downs, ‘Our Spaces’ breathes a new power and directness, as Guy has re-focused his approach and style. Breaking free from previous genre constraints, he was finally able to simply write and express what was in his head. This paradigm shift is immediately evident from the album’s opening bars, with its emphatic percussion and reeling distortions a perennial feature throughout the album. This sonic aggression, however, is paralleled with a sensitivity and zeal that really adds a level of depth that is often hard to communicate consistently in album format.

The return of Michael Klein was imminent. Considering the magnitude of his last offering, the „Drawing EP“, it was only a matter of time before he returned with another stellar parcel of forward thinking dance floor bombshells. With his latest contribution ‚Metals EP’, Michael presents four stunning numbers displaying not only his trademark sound, but his evolution and range as a highly promising new artist.
The expedition kicks off with „Silver“ and with it a lush presentation of the perfect balance between thrust and elation. While a persistent rush of momentum keeps the pace, slow yet infectious rises and vast ethereal cries of spacious flickers set the stage for a cosmic ride reminiscent of indigenous settings with boundless, star lit skies.
Following suit on the A side sees Michael return to his approach heard on his last EP. Somewhere between the traditional fundamentals and the future stylings of the most distinguished techno lies „Opaque“. With incredible force and exuberance, Klein delivers off kilter grooves that create a contagious, sweat laden exhilaration, nothing short of pure warehouse bliss.
Kicking off the B side is „Outer Shell“ and it is by far the most emotional and cosmic of all the tunes. Opulent melodics construct beams of radiant light found only in the outer reaches of deep space as flashes of meteoric rises and low bursts of impetus propel the auditor into a never-ending journey into a place where time and space cease to exist.
Wrapping things up is a slow burner entitled „Dura 2 feat. aGhost“. A tune that can be played fast or at the slower original speed, it's a beautiful demonstration of resistance and inflection. As chants of a mysterious female fill the room, shimmers of lavish chimes circle slowly to secure an impassioned sentiment of sorrow, excitement and desire.
To compliment the beauty of 'Dura 2' we've enrolled the services of Roman Lindau to put his spin on the original. With just a few elements Lindau expertly creates a monster of a dance floor stormer. As the bassline continually grows and shrinks with a simple but highly effective four to the floor groove, the excitement swells as short stabs of vocals entice the crowd to peaking trepidation.
