Shift Work (@shiftworking) are an electronic duo who have previously released on JD Twitch’s Glasgow label Optimo Music. They debut on Houndstooth with ‘Document II’, an EP developed from live jams on outboard analogue gear. ‘Abandoned Hands’ is lean and raw, an angular bassline and indecipherable vox punctuating the relentless 4/4 kick drum and pattering percussion. ‘SBFM’ is fuller-bodied, with the modulating bassline taking centre stage, draped in loose synths and topped with a deadpan vocal refrain.

Shift Work invited remixes from their associates, and the results are impressive, with DVA Damas (@dvadamasdvadamas) dialling down the tempo and stripping back ‘Abandoned Hands’ further still, whilst Factory Floor (@factory-floor) return to remix duty on Houndstooth with a typically subtle yet infectious building take on 'SBFM'.

Sharif Laffrey's epic masterpiece will be soon available! 
Sharif Laffrey has been playing all over the place for 20 long hard years. Born in Detroit, Michigan - he's worked on The Line & at Submerge, toured asia with Juan Atkins and once had to chase a grown man through the streets at night after the man crawled into his living room through an open window. *He* was also once chased by a man with a knife. An active member in Detroit's early rave scene he still lives with the fear that one day someone will develop the 8mm film that was taken during some of those nights and put it on youtube. Sharif remembers booking all international gigs exclusively with something he calls a "Fax Machine" - He says there was "no internet" then. He also had a beeper (pager) and drove a Trans-Am. Not ironically. "I like Acid House." 
Sharif Laffrey realeased TURN IT UP on Discos Capablanca to massive praise, he is dealing with The Fame since then.

It has been a while since Odopt's first appearance on Born Free. The first record dropped without anyone having any previous image of who they were and what they do. Since then, the duo from Moscow has already made a clear mark for themselves in what has quickly emerged as a rival to Berlin as Europe techno capital ; Moscow. It doesn't seem like they will stop there though, quite the opposite. Born Free is satisfied to welcome them back on the label with this exciting new release, picking up where they last left them ! Working with yet-to-be-discovered Scottish artists as well as established and revered acts like Justin Robertson and Tom Blip who have already graced Palms’ DJ decks, no other track summed up Paradise Palms' mission in 2017 quite like ‘I See You In The Shrubs’ by Edinburgh enigma Eyes of Others. 

A woozy, pulsing jam; equal parts of nervous energy and stoned groove - ‘Shrubs’ immediately received a cosign from Paris’ Les Yeux Orange and made its way into a highly respectable group of DJs' sets. Andrew Weatherall has since taken things a big step further and reworked ‘Shrubs’ into a sprawling 8 minute journey of his own, backed by live drums and deep sub-bass.

For more than half a decade Alexander Dorn has shaken electronic sounds, stirring shapes and forms as Credit 00 that adhere to few genre tags. His Bordello A Parigi debut is no exception. The alumnus of Uncanny Valley and Ratlife arrives with four tracks under the banner of The Cosmic Funk collection. Drawing on a spectrum of influences, the Leipzig based musician melts reimagined house with broken beats, blends Eastern acid aromatics with jazz abstractions and achieves a sound that is stunningly unique. Avacha Records starts 2021 with “Vo Sne” by Moscow-based artist ROBSN. You can find there some beautiful dance music that fits someone’s prom or a private party on a boat. The release was remixed by Japanese musician Shun and the label owner himself Anton Berezin.
