Shift Work (@shiftworking) are an electronic duo who have previously released on JD Twitch’s Glasgow label Optimo Music. They debut on Houndstooth with ‘Document II’, an EP developed from live jams on outboard analogue gear. ‘Abandoned Hands’ is lean and raw, an angular bassline and indecipherable vox punctuating the relentless 4/4 kick drum and pattering percussion. ‘SBFM’ is fuller-bodied, with the modulating bassline taking centre stage, draped in loose synths and topped with a deadpan vocal refrain.

Shift Work invited remixes from their associates, and the results are impressive, with DVA Damas (@dvadamasdvadamas) dialling down the tempo and stripping back ‘Abandoned Hands’ further still, whilst Factory Floor (@factory-floor) return to remix duty on Houndstooth with a typically subtle yet infectious building take on 'SBFM'.

Sharif Laffrey's epic masterpiece will be soon available! 
Sharif Laffrey has been playing all over the place for 20 long hard years. Born in Detroit, Michigan - he's worked on The Line & at Submerge, toured asia with Juan Atkins and once had to chase a grown man through the streets at night after the man crawled into his living room through an open window. *He* was also once chased by a man with a knife. An active member in Detroit's early rave scene he still lives with the fear that one day someone will develop the 8mm film that was taken during some of those nights and put it on youtube. Sharif remembers booking all international gigs exclusively with something he calls a "Fax Machine" - He says there was "no internet" then. He also had a beeper (pager) and drove a Trans-Am. Not ironically. "I like Acid House." 
Sharif Laffrey realeased TURN IT UP on Discos Capablanca to massive praise, he is dealing with The Fame since then.

@listentosafetalk are a new Anglo-French trio who mix electronica, pop and psychedelia, and released their debut single and "cosmic hymn" 'Universal' back in March. On Friday they're releasing three great remixes of that track, and we're premiering one from UK acid dons @posthuman.

While the original track is a gorgeous little pop nugget - imagine a heady blend of Simple Minds, Future Islands and Tame Impala - Posthuman have gone for broke and turned it into a 10-minute acid trance epic. Their remix kicks off with frighteningly efficient piston-like drums before lowering down a screen of floaty, sci-fi synths. Somehow it calls to mind the Mars rover, cutting a lonely, trundling figure across the Red Planet. The second half is more combustible when the gurgling acid kicks in, providing a counterpoint to the affected, pop-ready vocals.

PREMIERE: Safetalk - Universal (Posthuman Remix)

Working with yet-to-be-discovered Scottish artists as well as established and revered acts like Justin Robertson and Tom Blip who have already graced Palms’ DJ decks, no other track summed up Paradise Palms' mission in 2017 quite like ‘I See You In The Shrubs’ by Edinburgh enigma Eyes of Others. 

A woozy, pulsing jam; equal parts of nervous energy and stoned groove - ‘Shrubs’ immediately received a cosign from Paris’ Les Yeux Orange and made its way into a highly respectable group of DJs' sets. Andrew Weatherall has since taken things a big step further and reworked ‘Shrubs’ into a sprawling 8 minute journey of his own, backed by live drums and deep sub-bass.

On A1 and AA1, F.O.R.S. presents his signature blend of eerie strings and hard-hitting drums, while he departs towards fast-paced jungle breaks on A2 and AA2.
