These Street Studio Cities, organized with Found Sound Nation and HARMAN, bring world-class DJs and producers onto the streets for Make Music Day, setting up their mobile recording studios in front of art galleries, on downtown plazas, and in parks. In one afternoon, producers invite passersby from the community to join in a completely improvised music creation session. At the end of the day, each producer mixes down one track, using only the material recorded on-site, to share the sounds of their city with the world.

It is very nice to host such an artist as Głós on our platform. We value his search for new forms and inspiration in creating electronic music.

BIO [EN}: 
Non-Print label head and producer Głós wants to create something outside of the conforming realm of Techno. He has already reinvented his early work through his latest album, and his lucid yet straight-to-the-point productions continue to reveal a rarefied character.

Głós has made a point out of not following the sometimes linear Techno patterns with his artistry. He comes from a band-focused Rock-environment and runs his own label, arranged to be a wildly experimental project. Głós (pronounced ‘Gwos’) is also in several ways a close contributor to the Ressort Imprint label—founded by fellow producer Ekserd—since its start in 2013, already then having left his native Poland to become a Berlin citizen. The label website informs you that ‘‘Ressort’ is a German synonym for a journalistic or administrative department’, and that their specific expertise is the dance floor. Ressort Imprint has released several of Głós’ productions and features other regulars such as Array Access, Border One and The Plant Worker—as well as remixes by Cassegrain, Evigt Mörker and Pfirter. Głós’ new platform, his very own label Non-Print, released his debut album ‘Fem’ in September 2018—marking the exact five year anniversary date of his first EP, ‘There Is No One Like You’ (Ressort Imprint, 2013). The producer describes it as ‘a collection of re-works as well as new material without any creative limitations’. ‘Fem’ is presented as one continuous mix—with each of the tracks being available in their own individual entity.

As a producer and performer, Głós’ background, which is a very hands-on analogue way of working—recording for example distorted keyboards and guitars—continues to influence his music. The industrial rawness of these elements are still present in his Techno, only now existing mantled by a softer Drone- and Ambient-type of layer. Głós portrays filmic scenes in his music. You are surely guided by the kick-drum, but the productions are spatial—distant rave signals and voices echo in a fantasy-like landscape. His live performances are often of a hybrid of his own work and others. The Techno is pure Głós, but in various parts he manipulates selected Ambient pieces, making them his own for his distinctive shows. Again a situation where Głós’ live band-background plays big part.

Fresh of the press is the shared EP ‘The Perfect Moment In Time-Space Continuum’ on Polish imprint Unknown Timeline, featuring three of Głós’ productions. Paris’ Flyance Records will publish the EP ‘Twenty-Seven Stabs’ at the beginning of 2019, backed up by remixes from Blazej Malinowski and VII Circle.

The Keep is the solo project of Gothenburg-based Oliver Knowles, who combines his Indonesian heritage with a love for drones. The Keep will release his debut EP 'Primer' on Dec 6th.

"Gammalane is split into two parts. Part one of the track is meant to reflect a scenario that is both unsettling and beguiling at the same time. Being drawn to something that feels wrong or dangerous. Part 2 is ultimately the surrender and exhilaration that follows."

Primer is a collection of drones, noise and rhythms influenced by the vibrancy and excitement of Spanish and Catalonian street festivals that take place in Barcelona each year, where the record was written.

As well as the location, Knowles also marks other inspirations as films and their scores saying "With this EP, the tone of films like Under the Skin and Annihilation, and reading The Southern Reach Trilogy that Annihilation was adapted from was very influential." Although the tracks on the EP are instrumental, Knowles as a means to express intense personal feelings of anxiety or sadness created them. He used the four tracks on Primer to manifest these ideas in a positive way, allowing a sort of personal catharsis.

Born in Singapore, Knowles then lived in Indonesia until he was 6 and pays heritage to his Indonesian heritage on this EP by using samples of traditional Indonesian instruments, including a small Indonesian hand drum that his mother gave him years ago.
