Our sixth VA compilation continues in the collective spirit at the heart of Pressure Dome; here taking its fullest form. The first of its kind in the label catalogue, ‘Two [Is Greater Than] One’ sees a selection of PD regulars and friends of the label put their heads together across eight atmospheric tracks, equally as suited to the club as to solo listening. 

Those who have followed the label for a while will be no stranger to the comp’s first collaborator. Human Resources teams up with London dub techno specialist, Keplrr, on ‘Spring’: a mood-led composition where the impact is contained in atmosphere. Fragmented drum breaks are engulfed by airy synth pads and punctuated by a dancehall-indebted rhythm that marches at 90BPM. ‘Yuppel’ welcomes Noods Radio mainstay Sid Quirk aka Keppel into the mix. He is joined by label boss, Yushh, on a ruminative percussive tool, guided by cavernous drums that fabricate a vivid, immersive environment. With the guidance of Brighton’s Caldera, the journey continues with Süss Choc. The reverb-laden synth plucks on ‘evoke water droplets, and hallucinatory details echo around them to create the illusion of being in a mountainous cove.

Delay Grounds – an audiophile in the truest sense of the word – is next to take the baton. Together, he and Yushh take it up a notch on ‘Telomere’ – a full-bodied club-ready track packed with glitchy chords and giddy drums. A gnarly, Pariah-esque breakdown segues into the track’s second wind where pitched-up vocal chops accelerate it to the compilation’s energetic climax. With the help of London drum specialist, Syz, ‘Fuzbidun’ keeps our feet firmly on the dancefloor. Breakbeats are chopped and rearranged, flitting between double and half time whilst a distorted mid-bass roughens things round the edges, prepping the ground for the compilation’s move to a more inorganic feel.

Bristol don, Forever, joins Yushh next on ‘Passing Notes’ – a groove-driven club track where skittish percussion ricochets from side to side, so palpable it tempts the touch. ‘Crash Bash Party At BUFOs’ is no different. The link-up between Delay Grounds and dance music’s stalwart of musique concrète, Wordcolour, is completely idiosyncratic to both artists: the perfect combination of found-sound percussion and skillfully rehashed vocal samples. It’s up to two PD mainstays – Roy Mills and Human Resources – to close proceedings. A chugging rhythm bubbles under the surface of ‘Sycophantasy’, sending us on a dubbed-out trip before picking the pace back up again.

There are albums that tap into the very heartbeats of rhythm, melody and intricate sound design, pulsating with every musical note. This is the case of 'Séptimo Sentido', the new album by Buenos Aires-based producer Seph.

Sebastián Galante aka Seph is no stranger to these realms; with almost two decades of experience under his belt, he has established himself as one of the leading talents in the Argentina techno scene and as one of the most intriguing minds in alternative Latin American electronic music. His productions have found a home in cutting edge labels such as Insurgentes –a platform led by the DJ and producer from Medellín (Colombia) Verraco, and sister label of TraTraTrax, which has reduced gaps between the Latin electronic scene and the rest of the globe– or his own label Aula Magna Records. He has also fostered collaborations, among which stands out his project Oscean alongside Andrés Zacco, a project that was recently released on the legendary Berlin label Tresor.

In his new album 'Séptimo Sentido', Seph exhibits superlative production skills and masterfully showcases the widest palette of the braindance sound, that intersection where countless genres and sub-styles can coexist. Here we hear echoes from the mid-90s that revive undeniable references of early IDM; but with a renewed form, under a fiercely contemporary new skin.

At the core of this intriguing album, we find an artist whose devotion to experimentation takes his rhythmic and melodic obsessions through vibrant magical-techno-urban landscapes, where radiant colors and mutating forms collide in a bold and imaginative sonic journey.

'Séptimo Sentido' hails from the prism of perception, beyond the five senses and a step further than instinct, hunting for mysterious resonances with the cosmos; like a space portal inviting us to float a handspan above the ground.

Now The Biting Makes Sense

The JUDDER label is back with the next part of its VA compilation. This time, we have something special — ten DJ-friendly tracks and tools, half of which were created exclusively using live gear. As usual, the concept of the series remains intact, bringing together seasoned true-to-the-craft professionals and rising newcomers.

Kercha leads the compilation with an experimental, grime-influenced tool simply titled "33". On the more breakbeat-leaning side, we have Unbroken Dub with his slow-paced, reflective story-teller "Other Desert Cities"; Cultrow, who is quite literally "Killin'" it with a stripped-back weapon that evolves into a half-time dubstep rattler before returning to its original pace; and JUDDER resident Oddkut, showcasing his interpretation of what can be called a tribal sound in "Tribal Trax", filled with subtle but ear-catching elements while maintaining a minimalist approach. Rotterdam’s very own Samwho isn’t far from the breakbeat and tribal vibe either, delivering an interesting hybrid with "Ura-Hara", featuring rhythms and shuffles inspired by earlier proto-dubstep productions. On the more experimental side, Anymodal takes things up a notch to virtually confuse the listener, bringing the concept of "slowfast" to a new level with his percussive-infused halfstep mind-blower "Tronic". Meanwhile, for those who like it simple, Raciya Bağdad demonstrates his gear-handling skills with a pretty straight-forward techno-tool "Vietnam Flashback", and Jovani Boa offers a clever yet discreet blend of acid and electro with "Flex Town". There’s even a hypnotic, easy-listening dub-techno fusion, courtesy of Dawn Razor and his track "Push 'n' Pull". Lastly, this time up-and-coming producer Anned is honored to round off the compilation with her gritty track "Annoying Hornet", reminding everyone what JUDDER and its sonic vision are all about.

The second instalment of the JUDDER compilation has not only gathered artists with diverse backgrounds, production styles, and approaches but also a wide range of genres and styles, carefully curated and blended to create a long-playing journey for listeners to explore.
