Urban Lions are an eight piece band from England currently rising up through the underground UK roots and dub scene and out onto the world stage. 

With the recent addition of a full horn section, Urban Lions have created a sound of their own, resonating a positive vibration by fusing styles old and new and pressing their own unmistakable stamp on our musical roots.

After touring the UK and Europe, having headlined some of the most outstanding venues and festivals up and down this country and overseas, playing One Love, Boomtown, Illusive, The Reggae Garden and Irie Vibes Festivals, drawing crowds far and wide from Hootananny in Brixton and The Purple Turtle in Reading to The Picturedrome in Northampton, with UK roots reggae pioneer Donette Forte, Urban Lions have carved their own groove on the circuit with a feisty fusion of bashment roots, dub, ska, dancehall, jungle, funk, balkan beat, skanking rhythms and conscious rhymes. 

Urban Lions have secured a record deal with Amsterdam based label 'Earth Works Records' and released their debut EP 'Urban Lions In Amsterdam', a live and direct six track offering, available in over 200 stores worldwide including iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, Amazon, Deezer, Tidal, YouTube, Microsoft Groove, & Medianet.

This year is set to be a fruitful year for Urban Lions as they go back into the studio to record a series of singles before touring the festival and  venue circuit. Look out for some very special artist collaborations along the way.

Hudge, a South Londoner with a love of Hip Hop culture both old and new. From being involved in the London Hip Hop scene since  1989, Hudge moved to Aotearoa with his wife and daughter in 2012, in search of the beach life. After his debut on NZ shores at The Turnaround, Hudge joined up with T Rice on the Uptown Boogie show George FM, played stand out sets each year at Splore Festival and has become a celebrated regular on Auckland's club scene and has bought the heat at jams with Kev Brown, Norman Jay, Mr Scruff, Manuel Bundy, AG, Total Eclipse, DJ MK, Omar, Shortee Blitz, The Revenge, TY, J-Period, Apollo Brown, P-Money, Mr Thing, Onra, The Nextmen and warmed up for Mos Def at the 2014 Soulfest. 

Hudge has also been the DJ for a host of international and local artists including Blak Twang, Guilty Simpson, Che Fu, Black Josh, Children of Zeus and London Posse legend Rodney P.

After hosting The Uptown Boogie for over 7 years, Hudge has recently left George FM to start a new show called Buggin' Out on New Zealand's newest radio station Music For The People! Tune in every Saturday 2-4pm.

Soundsystem is at the heart of reggae itself and nothing compares to hearing such incredible music thru some custom made scoops and horns, it truly warms the soul.

Thats right, House of Roots is a one off, made from scratch home built Dub sound system, with bells n whistles.

As well as touching on foundation Roots and Dubwise we're looking forward to featuring plenty plenty new school Roots, Dub and Steppas from around the globe and showcasing local Dub reggae artist in a heavyweight style and pattern.

All this with a massive nod to the sound systems of old and new and inspired by the UK sounds of my youth. Saxon, Jah Shaka, Aba Shanti, Channel One and Iration steppers just to name a few.
