To whet your appetite for the release we have the premiere of 'Ellingfort Road' and this one bounces and floats through its six-minute run time. Delicate cymbals and shuffles open the track up before a steady 4/4 and elegant strings get teased in. It's summery, uplifting and a perfect example of what FIO is all about.

Today's Premiere is by Vancouver based producer Jesse Bru. Released through French imprint Egoplanet, his latest offering, the "Roach Fingers" EP, features four tracks of raw yet elaborate house music. Take the title track here : a clever use of samples, solid beats, syncopated Rhodes parts, the Canadian producer distils proper late night warehouse groove through your ears and body. Two years ago I played at Studio 9 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The following day I missed my flight home and ended up spending an extra day, which gave me a chance to explore the city with my friend Linus, who took me to the Contemporary Art Centre. It was there I spotted a book named ‘Rojus’, that Linus told me translated as ‘Paradise’. The word and striking cover of the book stuck in my mind. A few days after returning home, I turned on to a National Geographic documentary named ‘Designed To Dance’, explaining the courtship rituals of Birds Of Paradise. As I watched, i jokingly began drawing similarities between these birds’ attempts to captivate and impress the opposite sex with dance, and the way strangers try to attract one another in clubs and interact on the dance floor. This gave me the idea of creating a record of functional club music, sequenced as if it were a club night, from doors to closing, using samples of these Birds Of Paradise and their habitat. Who better to kick off the inaugural release of SOBO [Sounds Of Beaubien Ouest] than Patrick Holland, best known as Project Pablo. Affiliated with the Canadian Riviera's 1080p troupe, as well as Seb Wildblood's Church and Lone's Magicwire – Holland now adds Beaubien Dream as the fourth instalment to his 12" series. The Beaubien connection comes from Montreal's Rue Beaubien, of which Holland is a resident. SOBO is headed up by fellow longstanding citizens of the Beaubien Ouest hood, Arbutus Records and their extended family – of which Holland is an instrumental part.

An initial teaser of the EP's opening "Closer" was aired publicly during Holland's BR London set back in October, as well as his NTS appearance with Lone and Gabriola earlier this year. Now, after a patient seven-month wait, we can finally wrap our mitts around it in its entirety. Alongside its two subsequent components, the track acts as a homage to Holland's home. With its distinctive Dx7 melodies, jingly percussion provided by bells (of the cow variety amongst others) and an insatiable groove growing lazily throughout – "Closer" is instantaneous happiness.

With that in mind, Scottish producer Telfort absolutely delivers with his remix of 'Becoming Cyclonic' taking the swinging, melodic groove of the original and flipping it into euphoric no-nonsense house music.

Cody Currie takes the bounciness and stabbing chords of Christian James' "The WHIP" and reworks the stems into a swinging, midtempo affair. A full and fun bassline keeps the track moving nicely between layered hats and some trademark vocal sample filtering by Currie. The remix is a nice compliment to the rest of the record, serving as a loose, low-slung alternative to the faster originals. It's always nice to see another American label taking flight in the wax game, and Nicewon is here to represent the NoCoast.

Houseum Records draft in Gavinco again for their third release, an up and coming artist, first discovered via HSM001, Various Artists - The Four J's. 

This time the young producer takes full control with his debut solo EP, "Caravella". The 4 tracks roll in the sweet return of Spring and the first rays of sun - Set off on a journey through rich melodies, merging House rhythms and Jazzy atmospheres.

The exploration starts with ‘Caravella’ the lead track of the release. Dreamy trumpet lines float you on the wind while the harmonious melody transports you through soothing atmospheres drenched with colourful jazz overtones.

Drifting into 'Assam', we’re treated to a smoked out electro funk fusion. Electric guitars play against the pure backdrop created by the jazz flute while, this time, the trumpet drives home the lower frequencies, leading you through the psychedelic haze.

Turn the wheel and move towards warmer horizons with 'Le Désir' - tropical rhythms created by a cocktail of frenzied percussions, enhanced by the sun. ‘Le Désir’ exudes an aura of hypnotising sensuality.

The sun dips below the horizon as we lower the anchor at the final destination. ’Lu Sentiments’ eases you into the night under deliciously dreamy synths. The rhythm is soothing and the echoes of sweet voices resonate in you...
