Presenting their first release of 2022, Astral Records welcomes Far From Home to the label for their debut EP. Based in Argentina and comprised of Lautaro Lopez Delgado and Lucas Amicone, Far From Home crafts mystical melodic techno which takes listeners on a journey. The duo's otherworldly sound found footing early, finding a home on Concept, Fengari, Omnia Rec and Venture Records. Most recently however, the duo contributed a track to the Be Free Recordings 'Be Free' collection, which showcased some of the underground's most promising melodic house and techno artists. Now, on the strength of that release, Far From Home continues to rise, making their much-anticipated Astral Records debut with 'Gates to Atlantis'.

Through distinctive design and spacey soundscapes Far From Home have carved out their own unique place in the underground. 'Gates to Atlantis' showcases this wonderfully with mysterious and deeply compelling architecture. Wispy sonics and haunting chord stabs converge around a smooth, meditative groove, while dull claps and tight arps push momentum into the break. Spanning over a minute in length, the centrepiece bridges the gap between tension and emotion, with rising tonal themes eventually culminating in a striking drop and hypnotic finale.

The second selection 'Epiphany' comes in equally mesmerizing and more robust with a cavernous groove and alien-like design immediately grabbing your attention. Solemn yet hopeful, its emotional range is vast, accentuated perfectly with devilish hooks and astral trails, before an arcane break resets the groove for a mystical final movement.

The third and final selection 'The Ents' comes with a deeper and more introspective approach. Warm beats and fuzzy lines set a character rich mood early, with arpeggiated fragments and percolating effects only adding to its esoteric charm. Concise and timely, the main break furthers the narrative, as symphonic synth flurries unite for a colourful crescendo and buzzing drop. It rounds out an excellent artist showcase from Far From Home, who make their Astral Records debut a most memorable one. Highly recommended.

Based in Queensland, Australia, Nerang Recordings has put out music from Interplanetary Criminal, Subjoi, DJ Swagger, DJ Bowlcut, J. Albert, Cassettes For Kids, and many more since its inception in 2016. Reaching five years of the imprint, head honcho Dj Whipr Snipr curates the second ‘Freaky Friends’ compilation, featuring contributions from a host of label associates and hotly tipped producers for six fast-paced, heavy-hitting tracks

Leading the release, Shall Not Fade and E-Beamz affiliate DJ Swagger’s ‘Hoticewater’ blends deep oscillations with skipping breaks and shimmering pads, with Low Tape’s ‘So Delicious’ following, keeping the energy high.
Striking vocals meet trippy FX and electro-tinged drum patterns across the track, a continuation of the DJ/producer’s releases on the likes of X-Kalay and Of Paradise.
Fresh off the back of their recent ‘Sportsgoth’ EP, Brazil’s Nørus and Dj Whipr Snipr collide once more on ‘Molecular Collision’, bringing classic 808 kits, acid lines, and squelchy synthesisers together.

Classic electro sounds meet modern production techniques on LA-based Ole Mic Odd’s ‘In The House’, as robotic vocal lines meet heavy arps. Ramping up the tempo, Berlin-based Nasty Enterprises boss Nasty King Kurl returns to the label with a fast and powerful off-kilter jam, leaning on freaked out vocals and tough percussion.
Rounding out the release, Cologne’s Turk Turkelton offers up ‘Offenbachs Father’, delivering a track complete with razor-sharp drum workout and expressive synth work.

Rome’s Leone510 readies ‘It’s Our Time EP’ for Lorenzo Dada’s Electronic Music Division this February.
Run by Lorenzo Dada, Electronic Music Division is the record label of Centro Studi Musical Roma, a music academy in Rome founded in 1983. Having debuted in 2018 with ‘Today’ EP on his Vonsail label, the Rome-based Leone510, aka Giordano Leone, draws upon an emotive and rich palette of sounds for his first release on Dada’s imprint, the three-track ‘It’s Our Time EP’.
Leading the release, title cut ‘It’s Our Time’ sees melancholic melodies and atmospheric pads swirl together over sharp, propulsive drums, making for an engaging and moving piece. ‘Kiss The Rain’ follows, with floating arpeggios drifting across a full-bodied low end as injections of sampled noise puncture through the mix.
Rounding out the release is ‘Labyrinth’, a deep drum & bass inspired jam. Dulcet bass tones, jazzy chords, and rattling breakbeats combine for a psychedelic-tinged experience, closing out the EP in refined style.

Originally from Normandy now residing in the country's capital, French DJ and producer Adam Boufeldja (aka Adam BFD) has been making a serious name for himself, having put out a string of self-released singles and curating his own self-titled Youtube channel.

Adam’s tracks have always been vivid, detailed portraits; drawing from memories and influences from around the world, and his latest EP is no exception; using his eclectic tastes to produce a record truly unique, and brimming with personality.

‘Call A Taxi’ follows suit, a fruitful marriage between shuffling drum patterns and hypnotic tones, while the track's subtle low-end provides the glue; closing off an A side that feels more like a story being told than another dance-floor memento.
