Since launching in 2015, Sydney based Aaron Andrew's Chubby Records has become a well trusted Deep House imprint. Their long-awaited next release ‘Various Volume 4’ is perhaps their most expansive release yet, with four fresh cuts each with an accompanying remix stretched across two slabs of wax, with a who's who of some of the best names in house and techno.

Kicking off, Aleqs Notal goes deep on the immersive and hypnotic, 'Planetary Insanity'. His ultra-smooth deep Detroit styled techno laying a super solid foundation for the track. In-demand producer Life Recorder makes his debut on Chubby, turning the more streamlined original into a euphoric and optimistic dance floor gem.  Cheerier and breezier deep house warmth comes courtesy of Jose Rico's 'Agonias'. Known for his lively tribal beats, the melody is as unique and classy as ever, staying right in the sweet spot.  Leonid goes deep and shoots for a more stripped-down rework homing in on the chords and tribal vibes.

On the second piece of vinyl is one of Australia's most respected artists, Ewan Jansen, with ‘Basilica’.  It’s a late-night deep house groover that rides a sublime Detroit vibe.  One of the EP’s standout moments is by Veteran producer Nail, who turns the dial to up on his early morning take on Jansen's bubbler.  The man behind Planisphere (who had one of the hottest reissues last year) David Swatten, brings the most laid-back jam of the comp with the super smooth 'Wave Energy'.  Crystalized melodies chime off waves of house bliss in this super clean cut. Legendary techno artist, John Beltran’s more upbeat Chicago rerub adds his forte to the mix. Its’s a gorgeous revision of Swatten's brilliantly bittersweet missive that will end any night on a high.

Ever-evolving Australian outfit The Possé debut on cult deep house label Pulp with Moods & Vibrations. Their fresh new four-tracker includes a remix from Space Ghost.

Andrew Elston and Ross Ferraro are the core members of The Possé, but the group often expands or contracts with various other musicians. Since 2017 they have released on the likes of Plastic World, Ken Oath Records and Kolour LTD, and bring plenty of Southern Hemisphere heat to all their productions.

'Parting' opens up with plenty of soulful Detroit house flavours. The dusty drums get you in the groove while subtle acid and silky pads bring a feel-good, sun-kissed vibe.
Remixer Space Ghost is Sudi Wachspress, a real album specialist who has released on Tartelet and Apron Records. He has a uniquely lo-fi house sound that draws on funk and soul. This remix is a late-night jam with gorgeous trumpet motifs and scuffed-up drum patterns all finished off with warming sunset chords.

Then comes 'In Focus', a brilliantly loose and jazzed-up jam. The skipping drums are run through with playful keys and humid chords that cannot fail to bring the party.
'Prime Mover' is a little more direct and dynamic but no less heartfelt, with more expressive melodies and infectious drums. A liquid Mix of 'Prime Mover' layers in fatter bass and more crisp percussion to take you to another level.

Moods & Vibrations is an EP of rich, musical house grooves that are overflowing with soul.

With a busy year coming to an end, Tartelet Records is taking a step back to pause and reflect. Releasing November 30th, “Medusozoa Vol II is a compilation of 20 introspective, ambient and downtempo tracks from across the planet – all carefully selected for their healing qualities,” explains Tartelet label head, Emil Margetli Nyholm.

Alongside previously unreleased material by Space Ghost, Zopelar, Glenn Astro, Max Graef and Uffe, the album also features recent signings the likes of ABUNAI, Athletic Whippet, Brynjolfur, Doc Sleep and Sans Merit (a new project by Francis Inferno Orchestra), plus a few classics from the back catalogue courtesy of Henry Wu & Tito Wun, among others.

Whether taking listeners back to a time in the past, to a daydream in the future, or fully immersing them into the present, all tracks were selected for their restorative and relaxing qualities, giving listeners a reason to find comfort in today’s climate of uncertainty.

Dust off a wine glass or three; today we raise a toast to one of the most dedicated house music institutions — Smallville Records. Ten years is a ruddy good time in this part of town, and establishing such a loveable brand takes some doing. Yet, with misty-eyed house at its core, the record store-cum-label has confidently strutted towards the big ten. To celebrate, the Hamburg fam are dispensing the third and fourth part of the Ways Series — entitled Smallville Ways — with a two four-track 12" and an 11-track CD. 

Naturally, the roll-call reels off like a FIFA dream team equivalent: STL, Christopher Rau, Moomin, L'Amour Fou (Move D with Benoit Bouquin (BB) and Marco Wollenberg), Smallpeople, Juniper, Jacques Bon, Lawrence, Rvds & Rau, and Tilman Tausendfreund.

Kornél Kovács' offering carves the deepest incision though. Remodelling a D'Angelo Rhodes piano sample into a diet version of itself, "Space Jam" is as airy and uncluttered as we've come to expect. Here's to another decade then, ayy.

DJ Soch brings a touch of la dolce vita to Distant Hawaii. This glittering release cherry picks the best of house, jersey house and italo, stitching them together with adoration into irresistible grooves. Resident DJ of seminal Italian club, Serendipity, and founder of Black Angus Records, Soch’s effortlessly classy house has long set him apart as a mainstay in Native Italy. 

Opener ‘The Power of Poetry’ paves the way for the EP. A fine example of the rich sounds synonymous with DJ Soch, slinky keys marry velvety synths on this nonchalant, italo-influenced number. ‘Underground Night’ maintains the dreamhouse vibe; modest keys and nod to club Tropicana. ‘Peter Pan’ picks up the pace on the B-side but this laid-back, dreamy slice of house is reminiscent of sun soaked adventures. Arriving at the beach bar, dive into warm blissful waves of ‘Round the World’. Shimmery and twinkling until the bittersweet end, ‘Magic Flute’ spins a classic four to the floor formula into candy-floss, chopped up vox glistening over the infectious beat. The perfect sundowner.

Colombian Musician / Producer Felipe Gordon has been pumping out high quality records as of late with notable recent projects on Toy Tonics, Lost Palms & Razor n’ Tape, amongst others. 
His latest offering ‘ The Bacatá Extrapolation ’, is some of the rising producer’s finest work to date, multi instrumentalist Felipe showcases his talent for playing the keys and bass, creating five tracks of infectious House music.
