Dublin born and raised DJ & producer DART (@darttrax) has been at the forefront of Irish electronic music for years, first establishing himself as a resident at Dublin's legendary Hangar club, before winning AVA’s coveted emerging producer program in 2018. Since then it’s been a wild ride, playing in venues from Glasgow’s Sub Club to the Warehouse Project, while stopping off at venues like Index to play a legendary b2b with Skream, a connection made the previous year having remixed his track ‘Sad Days’ on IFEEL.

Some of DART's most notable influences were passed down from his parents, both of which were immersed in Dublin’s ‘90s rave scene, where the sounds of trance and house could be heard across the city's evolving and ever-changing landscape. His love for progressive sounds has continued to be channeled through his work today and in DART’s own words sits “somewhere in between ‘90s progressive house, old school trance and modern techno.”

His latest release on New York mainstay HOMAGE is a nod to both his past and current relationship with dance music, using elements that span techno, progressive trance & house; continuing to be influenced by the records passed down by his parents.‘Get up’ kicks things off and could be likened to the energy-tingling productions of modern house producers like Sweely, coupled with a vocal sample and breakdown that wouldn’t sound out of place in a classic trance record. ‘Juice’ twists the template further, with squelching acid sounds and dynamic percussion leading the charge. ‘Juice’ is also remixed by New Zealand’s Eden Burns (@djedenburns), who turns in an emotional, introspective rendition as we make our way through peaks and valleys with endless curiosity.

PREMIERE: Miss Wallace - Shine Bright

he boys are back! After their initial collaboration cleverly named IGORI (an homage to the name they share), Cosmic G & Dakman returned to the studio. Dazzled by the contrasts of their surrounding and the most recent insurrection of society in their native country of Serbia, the two prolific producers dug deep into their past, in an attempt to disclose these contrasts through club music - using essential console entertainment of their kidulthood.

The four-tracker release bares the names of legendary video games, with the objective to marry the carelessness of the artists’ upbringing in the early 2000s and the current state of affairs, while subliminally pointing out the ill features that surround them.

First up is “Frozen Throne”, shaking up the place with a warm bouncy baseline and a tropical drum arrangement; cold vocal snippets and synth hits create a smart divergence of elements upsurging the tension in the break, before the warmth of the bass and groove overwhelms us on the drop.

Next off is “CS 1.6” the infamous tactical first-person shooter computer game, this time disguised in a wonderful, yet esoteric progressive house track displaying the joint signature sound the two producers are known for from their previous EP: positive backing theme is confronted by gloomy synth arrangements, and closed off with an oriental melody, all placed along a solid 90’s drum machine arrangement.

“Serious Sam” takes us on a voyage full of gated voices and pads: straight to the point, the almost-dystopian, deep, cut up vocal articulation is carried by a playful baseline and emerging one-note stabs, before it all evolves to a frisky chase of melodic components. As the game itself, this B-side is full anticipations and uncertainties - a guaranteed recipe for a busy dance floor.

Concluding this release is “Age of Empire (Burn A Bich Edit)” - clearly alluding to the political state, while cleverly placing a voice of a known figure of that milieu. Adding much more swing to the drum pattern, the track’s simplified baseline gives way to the melodic structures: the breakdown releases the full statement of the vocal piece, sending a message of hope and perseverance.

The fourth edition of SHDW’s flagship ‘Federation Of Rytm’ VA series has been carefully curated by the DJ/ producer and head honcho over more than a year, with close attention to detail given to sequencing. It is a balance of label regulars and debutants that represents the past, present, and future, both sonically and through the generational diversity of the artists involved. There are plenty of surprises along the way while always remaining true to the Mutual Rytm ethos and reflecting the journey of the night from start to finish, whether that's in intimate, sweaty clubs or on big festival stages.

Driving grooves and relentless percussion set the pace, gradually unfolding into hypnotic and atmospheric passages that invite deeper immersion. Pulsating low-end power alternates with eerie minimalism, while bursts of futuristic energy and cavernous kick drums keep the tension high. Elsewhere, dub textures and moments of introspection provide balance, creating a narrative arc that moves fluidly between intensity and release, atmosphere and tension, darkness and light.
