My first DJ mix since I started my journey through the Techno / Minimal scene, not only as a producer but also as a DJ. Recorded in my tiny little room/studio, where the magic happens, I made this DJ set for listeners better understand my style of music, framing some of my original tracks with tracks of some of my favorite artists which they are a source of inspiration for my musical work, such as Boris Brejcha, Victor Ruiz, Ann Clue, Alex Stein, Deniz Bul, SHFT, Adriann, and others. A leading light at the forefront of the new wave of British house music, northern star Richy Ahmed returns to his home label Hot Creations with a monumental two-track release entitled ‘So Good’.

Richy Ahmed has been riding at breaking speed since his debut EP ‘The Drums’ dropped on Hot Creations in 2013, crowned as Pete Tong’s ‘Essential New Tune’ and receiving a wealth of support worldwide. The following year he followed up with his ‘Sneaky Acid’ EP as the 50th release on Hot Creations and made his Radio 1 ‘Essential Mix’ debut. Since then he has spread his wings producing releases for the likes of Circus and Strictly Rhythm and remixes for Hotflush, Suara and Truesoul to name a few. The talented producer is now back on Hot Creations and about to drop one of his best to date.

His first release for 2016, it features two house jams both with a different style. 'So Good' is a perfect summer groover and. 'Ruff N Raw', as the name describes, is quite a tough house banger. Both have been causing serious damage!
Aside from producing, Richy is an integral member of the Hot Creations crew, acting as both A&R and being one of the main residents and curators of the line ups for Paradise at DC10. He also enjoys an extensive touring schedule playing all over the world at hotspots such as Panorama Bar and fabric. Now in 2016, there are no signs of slowing down with the launch of his 'FourThirtyTwo' branded parties that see him playing all night to small intimate crowds. Richy also plans to launch his record label later in the year under the same brand.

This week we've chosen a deep cut from Moscow’s OL aka Oleg Buyanov off his 'Jungle TV' EP on Meda Fury. In the time since his last EP on Meda Fury, he's helped start the hotly tipped vinyl only Moscow based label Gost Zvuk (Гост Звуk) and also released a highly sought Pobeda EP on Wilson Records.

Hand Plant’ comes on like a lost Basic Channel cut with it’s spiralling delays and jacked loops. It's more moody, nostalgic and atmospheric than tracks on most of his previous releases and we really like the direction he's moving in. The driving, hypnotic rhythm is what really grabs us here and we can definitely see this working late night on discerning dancefloors.

Phonica Premieres: OL - Hand Plant [MEDA FURY]

Budding youngblood Will Lister has been catching eyes and pricking up ears within London's close knit music community since moving up from Dorset. Having worked behind Phonica's shop counter and spinning records on his Balamii radio show, now marks the time for the savvy 19-year-old to make his production debut on Phonica's main imprint.

The Phantom exhibits three tracks of insatiable new-age dance music that's full of twists and turns along the way. Our EP highlight "After the Light" kicks straight into place from the off. Rich piano stabs set the tone, with a full-bodied rhythm driving throughout. An unavoidable groove persists throughout, complementing the EP's surrounding tracks neatly. A cohesive and impressive maiden voyage into music-making that guarantees Lister as a sure-fire name to watch, providing us with a taste of what's still to come.

Phonica Premieres: Hot Diamond Aces - DSOMC (Al Zanders Rework) [A-Z]

We're big fans of the Cold Tonic crew and they blew the roof off last time they joined us in the shop for an in-store session with label heads Krystal Klear and Maurice Alexander playing alongside Gerd Janson and Philip Laurer. Since their first release we've been strong supporters of their imprint and but their newest release really caught our attention since it features a brand new signing on the flip. "Nothing But A Freak" marks Sandboards musical debut and we can't get enough of it! The emotional House cut combines rattling drums and melancholic chords to comfortably sit underneath a spoken word monologue about the one thing that keeps us moving... We're very excited to see what this the New Zealand duo comes up with next! Keep an eye on these two, we have the feeling they'll be coming up quick! in the meantime, reserve a copy of of their new split release with Krystal Klear ahead of the official release at the end of the month.
