DJ firebrand Takaaki Itoh has come a long way since his early days of Detroit-influenced techno and parties in northern Japan. Without compromising anything in the way of quality his appeal has grown exponentially. Like a musical surgeon, his approach relies less on sweeping gestures and more on small millimetric cuts and tweaks that slowly ramp up the mood and leave the listener with sound that is at turns growling, mystical and amorphous. Bassiani Podcast 105 is a monolithic, trance-inducing opus from the land of the rising sun.

If Blink 182 and Australian rapper Illy had a baby, well then this is what it might sound like. Melodic pop-punk meets Aussie hip hop, blended with soaring guitars, a catchy hook and a big 'ol rap that smacks you in the face when you least expect it.

We have never been sure if this was an actual live mix by John Digweed but it has been a long time favorite so we felt it was worth sharing.
