The music of HURAKAN is based on tribal rhythms and modern beats. Drums and flutes made out of clay and wood, seashells, bones and seeds, are part of the distinctive sounds of the band.  Beautifully poetic passages and lyrics are written in both Spanish and Nahuatl. HURAKAN will offer the audience an experience to explore the importance of historical memory and cultural pride. In addition HURAKAN also projects the sensation of empowerment through the celebration of diversity and unity, or just simply a trip.

Guapachosos; Redefining the urban Cumbia dance party in Chicago! 

Guapachosos is a cumbia musical ensemble reflecting Mexico City’s cumbia scene as well as Chicago’s cultural diversity. Cumbia has been adopted by many cultures throughout Latin-america. In Mexico City the style of cumbia emerged as a barrio/underground working class dance music called Cumbia Sonidera, Guapachos recreate this sound. 

Jaime Garza is a bassist, producer and an active cultural promoter with Pachanka Music Culture presenting world music, son jarocho and independent latin rock in Chicago.

As a bassist his style is eclectic and heavily influenced by Son Jarocho, Latin-American caribbean and Rock. His musical background knows no borders, his contributions and collaborations as a bassist range from son jarocho, rock, cumbia, metal, punk, funk, ska and reggae to experimental fusion genres. Garza’s prominent bands are Dos Santos and Almafuerte.

He is credited as producer, co-producer, songwriter or collaborator.

Influenced by sonideros in his native Azcapotzalco, Mexico City, Puerko Pitzotl brings a unique mix of African, Latin, Roots, Reggae, Dub, Dancehall and Ska beats, enhanced by indigenous cultural elements, to deliver an unmatched music experience for all. In addition to MC ,DJ’ing and making new music, Puerko Pitzotl performs as a percussionist with diverse groups, such as LVDP Sound System, ESSO!, DoumSound, Ecos Del Pacifico
