Melbourne’s rising star DJ Life returns to Echocentric Records to complete the Musica Australis Incognita trilogy. The A-side is all about “Accelerator” - a hyperventilating peak time whomper of the highest calibre. Rudolf C steps in for remix duties and morphs the title track into a hypnotic blinder. On side B “Exaltic” is a trademark DJ Life genre- hopping hybrid burner. The closing number “Glycol” fuses electro with IDM overtones, a real hidden gem.

This superb offering from the mighty label Quintessentials, sees Glaswegian producer OOFT! (Ali Herron) mix the aptly titled track ‘Freak-E Groove (Proto House Mix)’. This chic 80’s disco moment of synthy splendour is a party piece - a fabulously fitting way to dance into the labels 10th year releasing bangers from artist all over the globe.

O0FT! expertly layers his music, with the use of echoing husky vocals breathing in at opportune times, sounding trim and crisp. Exploring the avenues of disco music, he places claps and high hats perfectly across the page whilst keeping the cowbells going along with the classy groove. The distorted sirens that build and form out of a curved synthy line subtly emerge creating a trippy mirage of sound as you move through the melody - bringing together an artist and label who understand and deliver raw deep house music every time!

How do you go on after a feast like „The Division“ - especially if it included a main course like Neutron Dance? You don’t! And you don’t even have to try. But like with any great meal, one can do magic with the leftovers (see chop suey, stew or goulash for further reference). In any case, Krystal Klear doesn’t need to worry about that. Having cracked the DNA code of „dance music“ on his first EP for Running Back, this double-A-side-follow-up-single feels alive, floats upstream and fires on all cylinders. While Euphoric Dreams is the musical incarnation of an Alexander Shulgin formula (your spine gets tingled all the way including a wonderfully prolonged break down) or the scoring of the proverb that „at the bottom of patience one finds heaven“ and „happiness is just around the bend“. Speaking of which, Miyoki does exactly that to every pair of knees around. A relentless bass line and a deadly snare („yes, you thrill me, when you fill me“*) are enough to force almost any kind of dance floor into submission.

The night was fast approaching as the car travelled quickly down the freeway with the lights of the big city glimmering behind. Sirens roared as the police chased and followed with chaotic rage, they were furious. How on earth could he have ever gotten away with it? Many had tried and failed to rob the bank but he had pulled it off with staggering ease. Tyres screeched as they rallied fast into the sunset, a pale dusty pink sky hung thick overhead as if offering a sombre tone to reflect the mood of the heated chase. It was hot and wild that night, a sunset drive with a hectic pace. 

Böhm is set to release a new EP on Echocentric Records, a happy go lucky dancefloor affair which is bound to delight and move many. Four tracks which feature beautiful arpeggios, rumbling acid and a distinct flair.
