Italian producer Hydergine revisits and refines an important early piece from his past. A decade on from its initial release, now includes remixes from a pair of legendary techno names. A decade ago as Hydergines career was taking hold, his very first EP was released to the world. On that record featured the B-side, >Augmented Reality<. A highly addictive and fairly straightforward track, it showed the talent that Hydergine possesses and the gift he has to make the ordinary formula, extraordinary. As the years went on, this track seemed to take on a life if its own as a fan favorite. Now, Hydergine re-acquaints himself to the original piece but also fine tunes the parts to meet his new expectations of what it could be now. A signature point in his early career, Hydergine was able to secure two of his favorite producers to give their own unique interpretations. For the remixes, Bvdub and Fluxion honor the original with their own standout signature movements. The mighty talent of Fluxion (Konstantinos Soublis) takes the remix to forge the ideal dub techno club track. A strong bass drum immediately grabs your attention while he hones in the static to create catchy melodic elements throughout. Bvdub flips the original on its head creating a stunning edition that serves like a secret door passage to further the intentions to what could be. With a total running time nearing 18 minutes, the track is grande in scale with voices like angels drenched in echoes. Beautiful and soaring to the point of goosebumps. Kenneth Christiansen is a well-known figure in the dub techno music industry.  He is the owner of Echocord, one of the most relevant dub techno labels, which has recently celebrated 20 years of activity. Since the late 1990s, Kenneth has frequently been spinning at Tresor in Berlin and other popular clubs across Europe.  His career in the genre dates back to his time spent working in record stores in the 1990s.

Hydergine's musical roots and influences are going back to the classic sound of the 90s dub techno pioneers. His pseudonym is taken from the name of a smart drug used to improve the metabolism of brain cells and cognitive abilities.

With its dark and atmospheric soundscapes, the a-side track “Grid” follows that root in a perfectly manner and shows his love for tape and tube sounds. On the flip side the title track “Static Frame” offers sparkling synth lines and shuffling hi hats. The modulated echoes go straight from your ear to your brain. The reduced drums and driven synths in “Sweep” will finally beam you into a basement techno party full of fog and strobe lights.

After releases on his own Ranges imprint, Separate Skills Recordings or Tiefenrausch we finally welcome the italian producer on Etui Records.

Alastair is the man behind Lempuyang, a UK-based label established in 2021 and deeply focused on dub techno sounds.

Among other artists, Ranges co-founder Roberto aka Hydergine first made an appearance on LPY-03, as part of a split release with Steve O'Sullivan under his Bluetrain alias. Hydergine is due to feature again this November on lempuyang's 3rd year anniversary compilation, alongside some seriously heavyweight names in the deep/dub techno realm. 

Lempuyang and Ranges labels are quite related in their sound palette. Testament to Roberto & Alastair's shared tastes, no less than 11 different artists have released material through both Ranges & Lempuyang.

The Big Bang happened in 2005 when Aleksandr aka @grad_u, a Vilnius-based DJ and producer who had been focused on drum’n’bass, accidentally heard Prospect II by Fluxion. It wasn’t the first time he heard the track but, at the right time and the right place, or, more accurately, the right depth, it pushed the artist to aim for fresh and dubby vibes and sounds. As the deal was done for the first release, the gradient of function U that Aleksandr studied at the moment gently became @grad_u. The gradient demonstrates the direction of increase of the function, so, consistently, it also paved the path of grad_u’s musical journey. But enough about maths. The sound of grad_u levitates in the golden middle between the ancient woods and the everyday asphalt jungle. The purity of these soundscapes is usually predetermined by recording the tracks on the tape, and inside these tapes, the producer encrypts both his family, everyday life, philosophical thoughts, space explorations, and some wild fantasies of how it all would sound live through a proper sound system. After a few successful releases on Knowone, grad_u was determined to launch a vinyl-only label himself. That’s how Redscale was born, and, since its first release in 2012, the catalogue has already reached the number RDSCL09. Grad_u produces all of the tracks released on Redscale. The producer also collaborates with likeminded imprints, Irenic being the latest (as of 2019) example of the dubby and timeless friendship. Having formed strong yet subtle muscles by performing live and DJ sets in various clubs and festivals in #Lithuania and nearby countries, for the past few years grad_u can in all sincerity be called an international artist. In the recent months, he has performed in cities like #Kyiv, #Helsinki, #Budapest, #Beijing, or #Tehran and travels are planned for the future. The faraway locations, unlike surroundings and new people met on the road have transformed into creative influences. The busy schedule of the artist hasn’t managed to keep him away from the studio and label errands; a few releases are now lined up to be listened in bedrooms and beyond.

Welcome to the 300th Chapter of the Deep Electronics serie. A weekly released serie that brings you a diversity into the abyss of deep electronic music. 

It's a pleasure to release sets with a special number. As you already know I try to search the best artists for that. Like Deepchord for chapter #100 and Mike Schommer for chapter # 200. 
And now I  finally can release chapter #300. This time Echocord founder Kenneth Christiansen makes his apperence mixing this chapter!  I want to thank him for creating this amazing 100% vinyl mix celebrating this unique number. 

And thank you the listeners and follwers of the serie. Without you this wasn't possible!

Bio:

Kenneth Christiansen and his Echocord label have long been the guardians of dub techno’s second wave. More than that, the Dane & like-minded friends built their very own techno temple in the form of Copenhagen’s intimate Culture Box. Kenneth worked there for years as artistic director until he decided to focus on his labels and his own DJ-career and left the venue in 2017.
More than a decade after starting his label – and later the Echocord Colour sub-label – there have been more than 100 EPs and LPs that have updated continuously and revisited the techno and dub template and have very much contributed to the careers of those that release on it.  Kenneth himself is also an accomplished producer as one half of Pattern Repeat with Dennis Bog.  The pair release on their eponymously entitled label and excel at crafting moody, textured and widescreen techno sounds that draw on years of dub culture.  As a DJ, Kenneth has been spinning ever since the beginning of the 90’s, immediately picking up gigs all around Europe because of his unique style and tightly honed sonic vision. Few people manage to remain credible and engaged with the underground over such a long period of time, but thanks to his devotion to his city, sounds and the scene, this man has managed it with ease and is here to stay. 
When Kenneth is djing his focus is mostly on Dub-Techno, but also he likes to spin the underground, edgy house and Techno. Kenneth is a vinyl DJ.
