Hypercolour offshoot, HypeLTD, return for more stellar underground house business with a super 4 track release from Trikk.

The Portuguese DJ and producer has been bubbling away for the last 24 months, releasing some solid records on labels like Terrain Ahead, Container and Man Make Music.  His HypeLTD debut sees him plunder the roots of underground house with fresh impetus.

‘Midnight Sequence’ is a dark, driving, tour de force, no doubt influenced by fellow Portuguese legends Underground Sound Of Lisbon, with it’s deep bass, air horns and white noise over a deadly drum arrangement.

‘Back To Back’ plunders a similar dark path, shades of London Jungle-ism in this one, whilst ‘Labour 91’ is an altogether more upbeat track, classic Todd Terry-esque rolling drums and Chi-town house cut ups keeps the energy flow.  

Wrapping up the EP is ‘Prime Time’, more on point house business here from Trikk, again with influences clearly in the Windy City variety of house music.

@SSSLIP and @Betonbrutt have tapped up grime pioneer Trim to add his bars on 17th Grid release, pressed for the first time on vinyl !

Trim steps up to the mic for the lead track, 'Pigeons', which brings next-gen grime energy with raw, club-ready vibes and menacing bars that are underpinned by a wobbly low end, and it's all perfect for dance floor detonation. 'Transit Limb' dives into a nostalgic yet forward-thinking fusion of experimental grime and UK bass that subtly echoes the sounds of the early 2010s with twisted breaks and chopped vocals.
The boys also invited @Notiiton and @BeatriceMasters for two great remixes, Noti turned the lead track into a precise electro banger and Beatrice drowned Transit Limb to the darkest depths of the ocean to close the EP.

We’re pretty used to ruthless but wonderous dancefloor weapons emerging from Sneaker Social Club these days, but even by their undeniably high standards, this four tracker from London producer Beton Brut is pretty special.  Following up on appearances on Plasma Sources and Coyote Records, he gets to work across four very different slices of atmospheric brutality.  Opener ‘4x4’ boasts rasping handclaps, bass stabs and deep kicks, like ‘Pulse XY’ on steroids, before ‘Tobacco Earthworm’ spits out its wonderfully chewed up, stop/start sparse grooviness.   Our favourite has to be MC-sampling ‘ESTLDN’, all apocalyptic, minimal weightless, before ‘Booters’ offers Eski-esque string drama and bass end pugilism, again with tightly edited MC snippets for extra punch.  A name to watch, on a label you’re doubltess already monitoring like a hawk.  Brut-al.
