London-based DJ and producer Katie Wilkinson is a bird lover, no wonder she decided to call her brand-new music project… Birds. Exploring her New Wave, 80s Goth, Techno, Psychedelic, and Experimental influences, Katie has been delivering high-quality themes and drawing more and more attention through her solid releases on influential Indie Dance labels such as Emerald & Doreen, Ombra International, Samo, Inside Out, and now on NEIN Records with “Time”, a 4-track EP divided into two dark-as-hell originals and two dangerous remixes by our dear friends Alvee (FREEDL019) and Gegen Mann (SXDNS220).

Her music brings together acid basslines with post-punk style guitars and off-kilter vocals to create something refreshingly original. The successful formula has been responsible for extremely well-crafted retro-infused pieces. In sum: Music with attitude, that’s the best definition of Birds’ exquisite sonority.

Through the remix we were solicited to review/premiere, Alvee proved he is totally familiarized and comfortable dealing with the mesmerizing Post-Punk universe. His interpretation of “Feed The Void” kept the gloomy atmosphere of the original even after having spiced & speed up things a little bit. The Mexican virtuoso went from 100 to 121 BPM, properly twisted the vibrant acid layer, and added some badass guitar riffs that paired sublimely with the amazing vocals by the star of the hour. Kudos, Jungs!

UK artist ‘Richard Yates’ began producing in 2008 and was signed to Portugal’s dance music label LAD Records. His first three track EP ‘SHAKE’ featuring ‘In Between the Lines’ achieved bestseller status on the label. In 2009 he was approached by French duo ‘Marylinn Drum’ remixing their second single “No Doctor” released on Germany’s Doebler & Berg’s own imprint Vanilla Music. Other house music tracks such as ‘Free Your Mind’ and ’Take it higher’ which features Yates own lyrics were also very popular amongst listeners (iTunes, Juno Download). Yates also remixed Jules Spinner’s ‘Rollin On featuring Abi’ which was released on 953 recordings. He’s has recently joined forces with German label ‘Tomymoto Records’ after being asked to remix ‘Breezing Summer’ by the ‘Bengala Boys’. His track ‘Coming from Chicago’ also released with Tomymoto Records was recently signed to major distributor ‘ZYX Music’ in Germany and is now released on the compilation ‘The Kids Want Electro 2’. Yates also has his first solo album complete called ‘What is House Music - Volume 1’ which is released with LAD Records. Now signed to Soulshift MusicDJ & PROMOTER Gettin’DeepIn 2007 - 2009 Yates set up the club night ‘Gettin’Deep’ which specialises in ‘deep house’ music. The night was held at numerous venues (Sobar, T he Boiler Room, Aprés & Mechu) in and around Birmingham attracting a large following.What is House MusicIn July 2010 - 2013, Yates launched a new club night called ‘What Is House Music’ in Birmingham bringing in local DJ talent from around the Midlands. The night is all about underground house music genres giving the general public something new, fresh and close to the ground. He continues to DJ & Produce internationally, attracting clubs & labels with his unique style of music.

Peo Watson and Mika Frojman have known each other for 20 years now. In 2004, they produced "Chicago 72” which was discovered in 2018 at the 'Cercle' of Solomun session due to Solomun playing it as an intro in his set. This got the 2 back to work and after that, they shown a lot of magnificent things. 
After their last successful EP Signs of Sorrow last year, they’re ready for something new. Dust & Blood, the brainchild of Damon Jee, together with Kimshies are ready to come up with superbly forward-looking and sleek new sounds that will take you through several dimensions.
Opener, ‘Blue Planet’, starts off with classic bass lines, stomping rhythms and a post-punk vocal, all competing in the unique challenge of pleasing the audience in a deep-thinking  way. 
Followed up by ‘Cortex Five Senses’, a ride you will not want to get off. This time the approach is more deeper, pacy and hypnotic. A clear vocal swirls comes closer and they are letting their unique grunge-vibe shine through. It is a number that stirs the body and gets people sweating, leaving the listener longing for more.
‘Trapped’ goes back to those slightly older roots. Starting with a classic beat and the robotized voice of Erick Faulkner to analogy soundscapes emanating from modular synthesizers. The end of the track will leave you floating.
As the 4th track starting with an thrilling beat followed by metronomic percussion's, a female voice and some guitar pieces from the wild west, that transports the listener to a daydream of futures past. This along with a horse-riding ending that defines the title ‘Cowboys Don't Cry’.
Last but not least there is ‘Coming Out’ that’s closing the EP. Overall a more sinister and tougher track that awakens your darker demons. No better way to end with industrial synths, drums, and martial beats bathed in darkness.
All this on the ‘Dust & Blood’ label. The work of art that Damon Jee has been working on for a long time and on which a lot of great content has already been released. The Blue Planet EP of the French duo will certainly not disappoint on its release on April the 7th.

We last heard from Radeckt on the Spektrum 2 compilation, now he’s back with his debut solo EP. The Danish producer specialises in emotion- ally-driven club music, designed to spark inspiration and moments of contemplation. The dance floor is a safe space for free expression, human interaction and catharsis... Radeckt’s music is the perfect accompaniment to these channels of connection, while encouraging you to dance. On the Corroded Mind EP we get four original cuts, all of which encapsulate Radeckt’s penchant for music that moves the soul... 

It all begins with the title track. ‘Corroded Mind’ has a subdued intro, gently guiding us into a mesmerising sonic landscape. Soft pads massage the mind while siren-esque effects and metallic beats encourage the body to move to their hypnotic rhythm. Radeckt imbues the second half with drama and energy, while still keeping the mood sombre. 

‘Narrative Lie’ utilises layers of emotive synth and serene sounds, along with a meandering melody that lures you into its rhythmic flow. The glum low end counteracts the brighter elements of the track creating a neat juxtaposition. As the track progresses, the intensity of the main motif increases, sending temperatures rising. 

Next up is ‘Invisible Guard’ with its oscillating bass and simple, yet highly effective riff. Radeckt confidently applies the pressure, carefully in- creasing the tension until we reach a scintillating breakdown which takes us into the glorious second half. 

‘Silver Lining’ closes the EP, bringing a little bounce to the release. Radeckt gives us stuttered beats with great use of percussion to provide the energetic allure of this cut. As it builds, he incorporates an earworm melody along with neon laser synth lines and the whole thing feels like an eighties TV show theme with 21st Century sheen.

The most dramatic and unpredictable set I've played so far. BPM and mood change reminds me of the ecstatic dance philosophy. From downtempo to deeply electronic progressive house and even hip-hop we danced along at MUSES party at @hvlv_bar in Kyiv, Ukraine. Enjoy!
