As he lay in the tall grass he looked upwards towards the heavens with a glazed expression. The clouds moved slowly and the wind howled in his ears as he struggled for breath. There was a splutter, a cough and a gasp. For a minute he wasn't sure if he might ever catch the air again but his smart lung, the one which he had left was what kept him afloat, at least for a little while longer anyway. In the distance he could hear the sound of sirens as they raced towards him, he smiled and laughed beneath the sun. 

Sputnik One is set to release a new EP via First Second Label, an imprint upon which he has appeared previously. The new EP is perhaps his most accomplished work to date, an intriguing assortment of tracks with odd twinges here and there.

After his killer track z50 on the SPE:C 5 year compilation Alex R returns to us with his debut EP "Last Attempt". With dreamy submersive dub rhythms and dank breakneck drums Alex takes SPE:C to new corners of the club on these three cuts.

Crocodiles serve to remind us that, in life, we cannot always be placid. We must use the primal power of the crocodile to fight our battles ahead.

Alex R - Last Attempt [SPE:C 015 11] PREVIEW

Bleary-eyed and weak-limbed she struggled to find her footing in these unfamiliar surroundings. Was it her own perspective or was the world around her simply dissolving before her eyes? Objects had become strange and obscure, and colours more washed out; a doubled vision of an uncertain environment.

You could say fate brought space•lab boss Dr Baird and Italian duo Quiet Men together. Whilst on a drive through the countryside a few years ago, a recently unearthed compilation CD that came out on Disturbance Records back in '97 soundtracked Dr Baird's journey, one that featured tracks from Astral Body, T.W.E and Aphex Twin's Caustic Window alias. But it was the intricate production and beautiful synths of Quiet Men's contribution 'Brain' that caught his attention.

He began to dig into their background and found that the pair also operated under retina.it, friends and collaborators of Donato Dozzy and Neel, whom he'd met just the year before at a party in London. Following the realisation, Baird got in touch with Lino Monaco (one half of the duo) about a re-release of 'Brain', who subsequently shared 'Brain' alongside a collection of unreleased tracks, which had been sat on a dusty DAT since the late 90s. Remastered, and on vinyl for the first time, four of the forgotten cuts see the light of the day for the first time in the form of The Transition; a collection of 90s jams, celestial techno and melting soundscapes.

Kouncil Cast 014 - Mark Mackenzie w/ Corporeal Face

The environment around them was ever changing, for as much as it was bright and light there were also moments of bleak, bitter darkness. They lurked around the corner. The planet was as much a living organism as they were, a bubbling ball of fertile unrest and unpredictable consequences. As the clouds rolled by slowly overhead he listened to their rumbling - it was ominous and yet weighted with such promise. A living dub, a noise and a drone in the distant skies above. 

Max In The World is a New York based producer and label boss. He runs Bliss Point - a promising imprint with a penchant for deep, ethereal electronics, dub and beyond. Max himself is set to release a new EP at the start of this year. It features an all guns blazing remix from Lyon dj and producer Sentiments.
