The second release for Atomic Alert sees False Persona delivering his hard-hitting, explosive electro sound. Although a fresh face, the 21 year old Bournemouth-based producer has been self taught music production and DJing since the age of 13, and after spending years learning how to make different styles of music under a multitude of aliases, his sound as an artist definitely serves as a hybrid of genres.

On the title track Unknown Variable, he combines extra-terrestrial mutating synths and ghostlike pads with an insanely infectious bass line. Similarly, Hive Mind is a deep space club roller constantly buzzing its way through your mind.

The introduction of Brighter Days and By My Side is False Persona's own form of alchemy; reconstructing his usual element of club-ready electro with an expansive sonic landscape of subsonic pressure waves and euphoric pads layered with other-worldly vocal samples and magical glitchy percussion. A nuclear remix of Brighter Days cooked up by Dexorcist, one of the most prominent icons of electro and a dreamy rework of By My Side, Atomic Alert's Nite Fleit presses the button on this diverse weapon of an EP.

LDI Records serves up a celebration of The Hague’s famous electro sound with native Cliff Dalton aka Sander Evers behind four originals and fellow West Coast legends Legowelt and Rude66 both remixing.

Cliff Dalton is a relatively new project from a long-time Dutch music great. Sander Evers is the drummer in psychedelic stoner rock band Monomyth and has played with other notable groups including 35007 and Gomer Pyle. Next to those projects, he has always had his ear tuned into the region’s enduring techno and electro scene and now offers up his own fresh take on it. The EP’s title refers to the fact that all these artists are bound by geography, but is also a nod to the fact that The Hague is the largest Dutch city by the sea.

The opener ‘We Are The Little Ones’ is about an evil robot factory in a futuristic dystopian city. It is a coruscated electro-funk workout with crisp analogue drums and nimble bass overlaid with withering sci-fi melodies. ‘We Don’t Need A Real World’ is a superbly cinematic eight-minute excursion with widescreen synth work taking you to the stars as you ride an elastic bassline. The majestic ‘City Under The Sea‘ then layers up neck-snapping snares with cosmic arps and plunging bass and ‘Cleopatra’s Matrix’ soundtracks an ancient Egyptian city with its mystic leads and eerie pads luring you into a late-night electro trance.

West Coast pin-up and hugely prolific electronic innovator Legowelt remixes ‘We Are the Little Ones‘. His version has plenty of his textbook intrigue, lo-fi texture and magical synth charm, and finally key Bunker Records associate Rude 66 flips ‘City Under The Sea’ into a snaking dub rhythm with hypnotic acid lines and seductive vocal whispers woven in deep.

The Blue City EP is a timeless package of West Coast electro direct from the source.

Two of the heaviest, noisiest, and least conformist artists with a significant history on Bass Agenda Recordings have joined forces. That's the good news. The bad news is, you probably can't handle it!

Both RXmode and Alavux have their own individual sounds, not just different from on another though - different from most other producers in the scene. Their respective music overlaps in some ways though - darkness, intensity, blurring the lines between Electro and Techno, striving to avoid obvious genre tropes, to name a few.

The 8083 EP brings these two aural forces together in two original tracks plus remixes of one another’s earlier releases on the label, resulting in four fierce assaults on the senses. No compromises, no foreplay, just uncapped machine fury.

Cultivated Electronics starts off its 2024 release schedule with an all electro family affair from father and son duo The Advent and Zein Ferreira.

"Elektronically Minded EP" is the first of two releases scheduled on the label from them this year. For this first instalment the pair turn in two tracks of expertly crafted production that pays homage to the history of the genre with their own modern twist.

The A side's "Basic Channelling" is given remix treatment from Robert Witchoski a.k.a. The Exaltics who steps up the gears with a 4/4-esqe rework in his signature style. To close out the EP, remix duty stays in the family with a rework of "Syncopated" (a track that features on the next EP) by nephew of Cisco and cousin of Zein, Torai, who shows that high-end electro production definitely runs in the veins of the Ferreira family.

Detroit based, prolific house music producer and DJ Rick Wade makes a welcome return to Piston, after a bit of a hiatus, with the superb Daedalus. It was back in 2013 when we last got a glimpse of this highly respect artist with his very much revered, Zombie. With a career spanning over 20 years, Rick utilises music as a release which in turn allows him to further his ideas and his approach to creating stunning DJ sets. A product of the heyday of deep house Rick continues to ply his trade through various radioshows with his fresh, soulful and downright dancy sets. Great to see him back with this fantastic offering and we hope to see more in the future.

The Original Mix of Daedalus intros with a tight kick and sharp percussions that build up a flowing rhythmic vibe alongside cool slapped drums. Smooth, soulful keys beckon releasing a full on deep infectious groove that lasts long into the night. The bass offers great depth to the sound and delivers a somewhat laidback approach in contrast to the dancy beats. Cool, heartfelt vocals come through and add to the poignant soulful vibe. A real nice slice of deep here that will get a few heads turning for sure.

Piston head honcho Rogerio Martins delivers his Deep Down Inside Remix. Aside from running the label on a day to day basis, Rogerio certainly knows how to produce the goods. His recent vinyl cut, Otherwise Unknown, shot up the vinyl charts with ease and gained a large support base from across the world with the digital release looking likely to follow suit. Already in 2015 we have seen great things from this guy and rest assured there will be much, much more to come. The remix intros with a nice big pumping kick with sharp claps on the downbeat alongside a fantastic deep bass line. That bass line melds beautifully into the sound and contrasts perfectly with those bright and crispy hats. A solid groove is formed as the layers build and the introduction of smooth, warm keys ramps up the soulful elements. A super tight production that will definitely light up the floors.

Paradox intros with a cool breaks drum arrangement and is soon joined by an array of acid style plucks. Organically charged chords come through resulting in a dark atmospheric vibe that is coupled with high strings resulting in cool contrasting textures. An innovative drum arrangement keeps the groove on track and offers a cool listening experience which you will not want to miss.
