Truncate teams up with Chicago icon DJ Hyperactive for the ‘Trust The Process’ EP, landing on the former’s eponymous imprint this March. Crafted over the past two years in Truncate’s LA studio, the release marks the pair’s first-ever collaboration in twenty years of friendship and sees them delve deep into their decade-long wealth of knowledge of versatile House and Techno.

DJ Hyperactive and Truncate’s ‘Trust The Process’ starts with ‘Universal Function’, a no-holds-barred dance track with mind-addling loops, each sequence carefully overlapping to melt the ‘floor. The title track then strips things back a little, in which they underpin wiggy acid sounds with an effective groove before ‘Space Shuffle’ shoots for the stars with trickling synthlines and rolling rhythm. ‘Matter Of Time’ then closes out this all-purpose offering with dark, bleepy melodies laid over locked organic drums for another tasty set of cuts on the Truncate label.

Truncate, synonymous with the LA Techno scene as one of its most stalwart champions for over a decade, is known for his quality, groove-driven Techno and handy DJ tools on labels like Hardgroove, his Truncate imprint, and jackin’ WRKTRX sublabel. Here, he taps up Chicagoan 90s Techno and House legend and 4 Track Recordings label boss DJ Hyperactive for the ‘Trust The Process’ EP, whose own production credits span labels like CLR, Nachtstrom Schallplatten, and once before Truncate for 2023’s ‘Reptilian Tank’ EP.
