Cultivated Electronics Ltd's "For The Floor" series features split EPs available on vinyl (only) with Electro tracks aimed strictly at the dance floor, bringing together CE regulars alongside new artists.  Previous instalments have presented tracks by DeFeKT, Rico Casazza, Tripeo, Cycloplex, Steve Allman and Alex Jann.  Volume 4 now delivers 2 new tracks apiece by Ben Pest and Maëlstrom.

Bristol's Ben Pest has established notoriety as an exponent of jacking live hardware-based techno and electro with numerous releases on labels including Asking For Trouble, I Love Acid, No Static / Automatic, Orson Records, Don't and more.  Here he delivers heavy bass, vocal distortions and tough beats on "Who Would Have Thought I'd Be" and the accompanying "26 Hybrid".

Maëlstrom has a history of aliases and side projects, illegal raves thrown in warehouses, fields and basements, but he came into his own under his Maëlstrom moniker, releasing music on the likes of RAAR (the label he co-founded with Louisahhh), Cultivated Electronics, Central Processing Unit, Mechatronica, Private Persons and Discos Atónicos.  Back on CE, he brings a metallic sound to his punchy and rugged tracks "ASCII TWINS" and "PERMANENCY".

Fedka makes his Don’t debut but has been very much part of the family going back nearly 20 years.

This record flies the flag for creativity in Techno music and stands against the by numbers/sample pack culture that is all around us. Originally frontman and trombonist in Ninja Tune signed band, PEST, It’s the ideas that make his music sound like nothing else.

Never taking the easy route and injecting each production with his particular brand of wry humour, this EP has all the Fedka hallmarks; Pure funk, eccentric riffs and huge basslines collide with epic 3D chords that skid around on playfully sleazy beats, all inside a Techno framework that references the classic era of ‘wonky’ Techno whilst bringing it right up to date and into the future.

In the quiet waters of a pond, tiny green spheres float each with a cluster of cells working together in perfect harmony. This is Volvox, a simple multicellular algae organism, nurturing new colonies in its heart, waiting to grow and flourish. Similarly, in the vibrant skateboarding and music scene of French-speaking Switzerland, a young producer named Dimosoundz emerged from within a tight-knit community. Like the Volvox, he absorbed the influences around him, growing his own creative voice from the heart of this dynamic environment. This premise, both visually and sonically representative, marks the release before you.

Dimosoundz is the creative force behind Dimitri Roulin, embodying his musical ethos by fusing personal influences into a rhythmic experience grounded in his passion for bass-heavy music. Although his background as a breakdancer served a subconscious basis towards his current signature style, his journey as a producer began with a unique academic project that merged skateboarding, electronic and sampled sounds. From being deeply rooted in the Romandy skate scene is where he discovered 90s jungle and related sister genres, drawing inspiration from the community’s emphasis on autonomy, support, and authenticity which cemented the release before you.

Much like his lifelong fascination with water and its mysterious underworld, Dimosoundz explores vast, unknown realms in his music through obscure samples and non-musical elements whilst infusing his work with a playful, exploratory spirit. For him, music, skateboarding and underwater exploration are paths of creativity and discovery—parallel journeys of digging beneath the surface to find something new. Though seemingly fresh out of the water but already making waves within the Helvetian scene, Dimosoundz brings an original perspective, blending his unique experiences into a sound distinctly his own.

Ahead of their set at Warehouse Project later this month, two of Manchester's underground figureheads Eich & Korzi team up for the fifth release on Bone Idle, unveiling their soul-shaking hybrid techno tool 'Smoke City'.

Written after a smoke machine malfunction at Manchester's legendary White Hotel, Smoke City plunges the listener into a dense and hypnotic atmosphere. Pounding kick drums that pulsate through the body act as the only beacon through the thick haze, while booming claps and percussion rattle and reverberate off the walls.

As the intensity builds and the cacophony of percussive hits collide and intertwine, the Left, Right & Centre and More Cowbell label heads capture the essence of the raw, industrial spirit that makes Manchester the home of warehouse music.
