Hungarian label Secret Fusion continue a fine start in 2020 with a new EP from the under the radar, but highly accomplished 88Dubs, while Echonomist, SouveQ and Alexandros Djkevingr & Greg Ignatovich all serve up remixes. 

Attila Bujdoso aka 88Dubs has been making music for more than a decade and counts Fideles, Undercatt and Øostil as big fans. After being the first Hungarian artist on German label Steyoyoke, he went on to release on Traum Schallplatten and Beatfreak Recordings and in 2020 promises plenty more new music.

88Dubs then comes correct with 'Quanta', with its vast rubbery kicks and skewed, astral synth lines. There are sci-fi details in the grooves and plenty of atmosphere is created throughout. Last of all, Swedish-Greek talent Alexandros Djkevingr links with Russian Greek Greg Ignatovich for a third remix. It comes after the pair have made their mark with gigs around Europe and tunes on labels like Diynamic. Here they flip 'Quanta' into an upright dark disco stomper with withering chords and plenty of macho energy.

The Magician

The cars headlights shone forward, creating a glowing path for the vehicle to follow. Tranquil darkness blanketed the bland scenery that surrounded the path, an antithesis of the frenetic thoughts going through the driver's head. Every so often he would pass another car, quickly leaving it behind, while the rolling desert hills, which he could barely make out against the night sky, passed him in shadowy waves. The driver pressed harder on the accelerator. He wasn't going to slow down. He was going to strike back.

Following last year's The Untold Story of Del Fierro EP, Tel Aviv producers Niv Ast & Eliezer release Del Fierro Strikes Back, the third release on their label New Day Everyday. The four tracks showcase a perfect blend of 80s synths, tense beats and Italo flavours, with Isadora, ALF CHAMPION, and Adrien Albou lending their vocal talents on three of the four tracks.

Honey Badger Records, a Korean underground electronic music label, is releasing their third compilation album 'HBRTRX Vol.3' on March 9th (Monday) 2020.
Honey badger records is an independent music label based in Seoul
electronic underground scene, released it's first EP 'Overly Vivid' by
producer / founder JNS in April 2014. And ever since, they’ve been releasing 16 albums that connect the city with contemporary global electronic dance music culture. Their broad and variety of musical approach expanded the culture scope and showed new paths for electronic music.
The artists of Honey Badger Records are JNS, Sojeso, Two Tone Shape, Mignon, and Closet Yi, Each of them gives a distinctive sound that is ahead of the time through their album. Their original tracks released at the label have already been introduced many times in local clubs and also on media such as BBC Radio 1, NTS Radio, Rinse FM, Worldwide FM in the UK and Red Light Radio in the Netherlands.
The HBRTRX compilation, released every year at the label, is a series
album consisting of 120-130 bpm house and techno music that is more dance floor focused track among a variety of electronic music genres. Special guest producers Acidwork, Go Dam, KONA, Liu Lee and Yetsuby participated as well who haven’t released any track from any label. They’ve been actively interacting with label artists and it’ll be interesting to check their chemistry with Honey Badger Records.
Honey Badger Records started with a label compilation album in 2020, and will release the new musician Closet Yi's label debut album and another EP, which Mignon and Sojeso are working on. They will also continue to showcase new songs and selections by Honey Badger Records label artists at various events and parties.

The title track is an ode to the willingness and strength of Honduran people, a set of lyrics (crazy power, tastes rich, brave fght, sun's mirror) underpinned by a mischievous and heady mix of analogue wobbles and bleeps rubbing up against a slight but ever so slightly menacing drum pattern. Alejandro Veneno's remix gets out the guitars and amps to give a darker, more warped take on the original, punctuated by vocoder processed stabs, which edge their way between a sludgy bass guitar, almost without warning while the BPM slows down as the track progresses, as the synth sounds become vague and twisted. One of Electrique Music's bosses and Mexico’s most prolifc underground producers of the last decade, Mijo turns in the next remix, which turns up the bass and brings out some of the more analogue, glitchy elements of the original while working the vocal snippets to devastating efect, bringing about a more big room remodelling of the original. TYU turns up the acid with his rework, delivering a pinpoint accurate cowbell extravaganza, a sneaky synth line which almost hides beneath the vocal part until heavy bass comes in alongside an oriental sounding lead line, which ramps up the energy and forces the listener to bow down to a track which completes a series of 'violent weapons'. While the second original track, 'Filo Lacustre', sparkles, shimmers and bounces calmly like light of calm water... or a mirrorball.

Matthew Herbert’s Accidental Jnr imprint are back with their second release of the year, this time inviting rising London based star Third Son into the fold. The Polymath label boss has been causing quite a stir in the house music scene with releases for 17 Steps, Skint and TERR’s Clash Lion as well as clocking up remix credits for among others Marc Romboy and Maya Jane Coles (under her Nocturnal Sunshine alias).

When Niv & Adrien went to the studio together, August 19 in Tel Aviv, they were inspired by their idol and wanted to share his story.

With "Beau Chien" EP they give their inputs for psychedelic rock-n-roll and electronic driving with an 80’s synth and hypnotic voice as well as guest vocals by Cheli.
