Celebrating 20 years of the BMSS family and ten years of BMSS the record label, "Return to the Source” brings together sonic synthesis from all corners of the multiverse. 

17 tracks representing the mature tone of BMSS, which has evolved over the last two decades into a style that pays tribute to the source of our scene by disregarding trend and convention. An eclectic selection gathered by label manager and globe trotting DJ Boom Shankar to challenge standards that breed conformity and reflecting his own personal style that prioritizes story and flow over genre and BPM.

The story told by this 20th anniversary release unfolds in two parts. The journey begins by taking you back to the source and the darker side of the Psychedelic spectrum. Chapter 1 revolves around the intense magnetic power of the moon. 

Defiant, relentless energy distilled into: one of the last tracks by the recently departed Hux Flux, new music by psychedelic pioneer Total Eclipse, Japanese production perfection from Majide, Triceradrops and his hybrid psychedelic Techno, Dark Nebula and Datacult’s re-imagined “Beyond that Door” experienced through a Gamma Goblin filter, the prolific PsiloCybian and masterful productions by the legend worthy Braincell, Imaginary Sight and Lucid Mantra. Their sonic wizardry is designed to reinvent and reconnect you as you embark on this epic odyssey through the underbelly of moon-time music.

Clever re-interpretations of ancient Goa trance classics stand alongside the intensely psychedelic visionary art of Aashit Singh. His visual fusion of the old and the new creates a bridge between the past and the present where Plus 6 Masterings' full bodied analog sound gives each audible detail a clearly defined space.

In 2015, Manu decided that he was no longer able to live his joy in music only on the dance floor and he put on his first own equipment. After some long, lonely nights, he was allowed to flaunt his skills for the first time and knew how to convince. Growing up with greats like Daksinamurti, Dsompa, Eritas, Terraπ, or Mico X, Rustlerfari made the dancefloors in the Giessen district quake, then became part of the “Laws Of Nature” crew and secured a place in the line-up in renowned sheds like the MuK or Till Dawn , In early 2018, he made the international entry and has been a DJ on the English label “Woo-Dog Records.” With his dark, impulsive sets he manages to thrill the audience from the first to the last second and we can all look forward to the future.

Another milestone in my career - getting to work with Goa Trance legend Olli Wisdom/ Space Tribe. A pioneering artist in not one but two Music movements since the 80's (Olli was also a formative figure in the Glam/ Gothic Rock scene as part of the band Specimen among others), he was a wonderful character to collaborate with keeping the coffee and interesting conversation flowing at all times.

Sangoma Records presents the EP “Un autre Jour Lointain” (another distant day) by Shenanigan based in Sweden. Marco Riipi was inspired by post-apocalyptic science fiction of the planet Nibiriu also known as Planet X. The atmosphere is perfectly visualized by the stunning art of Antoinette Stoll. The result is this 3 track EP, that includes a collaboration tune with our label-artist Rezonant. Shenanigan impressed us with his tight to the point production and his unique style. Psychedelic trance is our futuristic vision of the mythical transcendental dance experience, and those exceptionally crafted pieces of music are the perfect guide to a dancefloor enlightenment. Hypnocoustics is the solo Psychedelic Trance project of UK based artist Joe Studt. Originally formed in 2009, Joe has released over 70 tracks across three albums, numerous EPs and singles, and performed live to some of the biggest and best dance floors on the global Psytrance scene including bookings with Glastonbury, Boom Festival, Universo Paralello, O.Z.O.R.A, Tribe and Noisily Festival in the UK. He has also become a season fixture at the beach parties of Goa over the last ten years.

Hypnocoustics has collaborated with luminaries of the Psychedelic Trance scene including Cosmosis, Space Tribe, Dick Trevor, Dino Psaras and Hujaboy, along with further hit tracks with some of the key producers of the next generation such as Mandala, James West, Brainiac and Outsiders. A prolific collaborator, he has a further project "Flying Sorcerers" with Aphid Moon. 

Joe brings a unique touch to all his music and an accomplished ear honed through a background of classical music performance and orchestral playing. He comes from a family of classically trained musicians, started learning the Violin at age 4, won a music scholarship in 1997 at age 13, and completed his undergraduate Music degree specialising in performance in 2005. However it was lysergic exposure to classic Goa Trance albums whilst at School, along with his love of psychedelic rock bands like Tool & The Mars Volta, that tuned him into the alternative frequencies offered by these new forms of music. 

Originally born in London, in 2019 Joe moved to rural Somerset where he runs his studio just outside a reputedly haunted 16th Century village. It has been in this atmosphere that his most recent Psytrance productions have been written, pushing boundaries with eclectic references to some of the pioneers of 20th Century electronica, live Violin FX, and a stylistic versatility between day/night moods. 

Signing with UK/ SA label Nano Records in 2020, Hypnocoustics has a genuine passion for the global psychedelic movement, and is considered to be one of the UK's brightest and most talented Psytrance artists.
