In the fifth edition of the Deep End, we take you to eviscerating depths at Singapore's very own Boiler Room - the Spiffy Dapper. Taking over from the masterful deep progressive warmup of Aloysius, the doctor lures the unsuspecting audience into the rabbit hole by starting off with smooth Deep House. A dark descent into carnivorous techno and minimal grooves soon ensued, with sprinklings of trance and coldharbour demolition to complete the obliteration of perception.

My live recorded set from Trance Republic's event, Energize, on 300115. All I can say is that the event was one of the best local TR nights ever, spinning alongside my beloved TR friends who were killing it set after set! 

I would definitely love to play for you guys again! It was an euphoric experience playing some uplifting tech-trance before some darker melodies.  :)

This is the live recording of my set from 'Trance Republic Pres. Energise' @ Azzura Beach Club, Singapore on 30th Jan 2015 ! 

This was quite simply, one of the most memorable Trance nights I've ever had the privilege of being part of ! It was a night filled with proper Trance & Progressive from start to end, with a completely local lineup & one incredible crowd that turned up in their numbers to support the local Trance scene in Singapore. The vibe was simply amazing ! This was a night in which 6  Dj's traversed the entire spectrum of Trance music. and I cannot wait to do this again soon !

If you were one of those who was there that night, THANK YOU for making this night an amazing success ! 

My set, which was from 2350 - 0045 (and right after Dr.Foo dragged us into the deepest, darkest depths of hell), was a journey back towards the light !

HV Live At CJ's for Connection(14 Nov 2015)

Sek Sheng, also known by his artist name ‘Dr Foo’, is a sound meditation facilitator, musician and DJ who holds space and prescribes music for healing and integration of deeper aspects of the self. He has immersed in and been trained in sound healing, yoga, meditation and music production in an ever evolving journey in the past 10 years.

Dr Foo believes that sound is a universal language that can re-awaken our innate power and connection with all, and serve as a fun yet sacred medium for healing and understanding. His journeys emphasise the importance of owning our darkness before true healing and expansion can occur.  

His sound healing journeys interweave live therapeutic instruments (singing bowls, harp, melodic drums etc) with electronic music (hypnotic synths, binaural beats), nature sounds, ethnic music and mantras across cultures. It is a reflection of his journey starting as an underground club DJ in Melbourne to immersing in yogic journeys in India & Bali, and then realising the power of sound for therapy.  

In recent years he has curated soundscapes for yoga and meditation events, full & new moon sound healing journeys as well as ecstatic/conscious dance events.

A Singapore duo of melodic progression and destruction. Magically deeper and darker, yet progressively uplifting.

~If there is a Sun & Moon, if there is Light vs Dark, then there is certainly also Hypnotic Visage~. Dr. Foo and Joshen, both members & DJs of local Trance community "Trance Republic", dabbled with the idea of doing a B2B collab after playing at several gigs this year. A mutual appreciation of each other's musical palate culminated the idea of forming a duo. After some explosive ying-yang in the studio together, the two decided to synergise their sounds as Hypnotic Visage!

The beauty of this visage lies in their smooth juxtaposition of each other's different core musical identity. With a keen focus on the art of progression, Joshen and Dr Foo brings out the best of each other in creatively diverse ways, while constantly driving home the reason which got them into the scene in the first place.

Hypnotic Visage is a synergy of passion across the realms of Trance and EDM. Striving to bring back the essence of DJing focused on seamless FLOW and JOURNEY to ethereal dimensions, the fusion of Dr Foo and Joshen is essentially a trip to the depths of the soul to realise the ability to soar to a higher state of mind. The juxtaposition of light against dark is welded by the duo's intricate understanding of melody and progression. No stranger to the dark and ethnic vibes across Trance, Techno and Progressive, Dr Foo strikes up an explosive partnership with Joshen to leverage on Joshen's gift for the magical melodies and to get in touch with the uplifting side of trance again. Influencing each other one song after the other, Joshen and Dr. Foo manages to bring out their hidden personalities in the form of pure melodic and (twisted) progression across the BPM ranges.
