Zen polymath Sebastien Mullaert’s project Circle of Live marshals a raft of diverse global talents for ‘free-flowing collaborative jam sessions in clubs around the world’. This time round it brought together the Swedish musician himself, plus Spazio Disponibile gaffer Neel and the moody soundscapes of German techno-pundit VRIL as part of their ongoing collaboration. What’s clear for anyone following these three trajectories: the trio couldn’t be more perfectly aligned, their occult compositions are bound by a set of influences that border on the metaphysical. The music itself: meditative, deep, ruminant and transformative. Textured layer upon layer, these preternatural melodies and jerking beats are sublime astral audio from another dimension: Bassiani Podcast 170 is a freeform and mind-expanding journey through uncharted waters recorded live at the club back in December.

Diynamic label artist David August puts a spin on Kollektiv Turmstrasse's "Last Day," a lovely piece of tech-house released back in 2009. His revision sees a deeper, warm, and meditative track with delicious chords and consuming basslines—-all resulting in an intoxicating audio-watering hole that you'll never want to leave. Embodying a profound and instinctual allure, Javier Salazar (@javrsalazar) remains an enigmatic force in the contemporary music landscape. Founders of klape nunsen (@klapenunsen), their sound is characterized by elegant and soaring rhythms creating immersion through a continued dedication to diversifying their selection, blending genres and atmospheres. The two are also part of La Vallée Electrique (@Melifera_Records) in which they shape a cohesive whole among the artists of the festival. Records from the duo are available on Oslated and their own imprint, drawing listeners into a smooth current of sounds.

Genesis

This mix has been brewing in my head for a while now.. An inkling of it first started to pop up back in October while we were at our biannual Delayed gathering in the mountains of upstate New York. I played a set with a dear friend on the Sunday morning there - cozy & hopeful music from various corners of our collections that don't get played very often but are set aside for special moments. My favorite kind of music.. It was one of the most memorable sets I've played & brought up a ton of emotions & memories from past experiences hearing some of those songs. Memories from my wedding, memories of my brother, memories from times living in Los Angeles when Sundays were all about lounging around all day in the sunshine after nights of dancing into the early hours of the morning. We laughed, cried, danced, ate lunch, all over the course of the morning into the early afternoon. It laid the foundation for how I wanted to approach this mix for Zach.

Sundays for me have always been a day of healing - mentally, physically, emotionally. It's a day to seek inner peace & a day to be reminded of everything you have to be grateful for in spite of anything else. I recorded this mix on a rainy Saturday earlier this month, channeling all of those memories & feelings, with my dog by my feet while my wife & daughter wandered about the house, making beaded bracelets & doing various arts & crafts.

From me to you, a warm hug & the promise of spring.
