We think a label should be more than the name on a cover. That is why the same sweat and lifeblood we leave in the clubs of Berlin, of Germany, and the rest of the world is now fueling Mother Recordings.

Our little family of ambitious music maniacs is standing at the beginning, innocent still in our infancy, ready to fearlessly set off on a big adventure. Why? LEFTI IS A PROJECT BY PRODUCER ALEX SUAREZ (BROOKLYN, NY) AND YES, HE IS LEFT HANDED. WHILE PURSUING A PATH IN CULINARY ARTS, JUST AFTER HIGH SCHOOL IN FLORIDA, ALEX HAD BEGUN HIS JOURNEY IN MUSIC.  HE STARTED TOURING AS A MUSICIAN AND BEGAN DJING AS A HOBBY SHORTLY AFTER HE GOT INTO THE NIGHTLIFE SCENE IN MIAMI BACK IN EARLY 2K. HIS PATH QUICKLY BLOOMED INTO A FULL TIME CAREER TOURING THE WORLD AS A BASS PLAYER AND WAS DJING WHEN HE COULD. IN 2013 A NEW CHANNEL OPENED UP, HE STOPPED TOURING AFTER 10+ YEARS  AND HE BECAME A PUBLISHED SONGWRITER AND PRODUCER, WORKING WITH OTHER ARTISTS AND LABELS AS WELL AS DIPPING INTO THE SYNC AND LICENSING ARENA. A FEW YEARS LATER HE STARTED HIS PROJECT "LEFTI" AND HIT THE GROUND RUNNING WITH A STEADY STREAM OF REMIXES AND ORIGINALS, WITH RELEASES ON THE LEADING INDEPENDENT HOUSE LABELS AROUND THE WORLD AND REMIXES FOR JUST ABOUT ALL OF THE MAJOR LABELS. IN 2021, LEFTI STARTED QUINCY BOY RECORDS WHICH HOSTS A LOT OF HIS OWN RELEASES, ALONG WITH A GROWING COMMUNITY OF INCREDIBLE TALENT.

With her years in the game, a multitude of awards, accolades and achievements, global tours and widespread influence, Sam Divine is a powerhouse artist. Renowned selector, producer, label owner and all round inspiration to countless women worldwide, she has established herself as a formidable presence. With 25 years under her belt, Sam’s vision and determination remain as staunch as ever. Driven by the finite nature of life, she is instigating a pivotal shift in her lifestyle. What we might call ‘Sam 2.0’ is the next phase of her evolutionary path, utilising her knowledge and experience to reveal more of her truest self.

Hailing from Scotland’s largest city, Illyus & Barrientos have been blazing a trail in the Dance Music scene. The pair consistently channel their varied influences into all of their records, consistently offering something truly unique with each record and performance. Barrientos has Chilean parents and was born in America, while Illyus grew up in Frankfurt after being born in Scotland. 

They met on Glasgow’s dance floors in 2014, building a friendship over their mutual love of the kind of unashamedly big, floor-filling modern house tunes that have since informed their own music and propelled them to the forefront of the UK Dance Music scene. In many ways, they are an odd couple – while Illyus was growing up in the vibrant local hip-hop scene in Germany, and then in Glasgow distributing early mixtapes for an enthusiastic audience of friends, Barrientos was still taking classical piano lessons, playing Chopin and Beethoven. The culmination of their diverse ascensions to this point continues to produce anthem after anthem.

With a collection of releases on labels such as Toolroom, Defected, and Armada, as well as remixes for the likes of Calvin Harris, Purple Disco Machine, Armand Van Helden, Sonny Fodera, Kylie Minogue, A-Trak, and Gorgon City, Illyus & Barrientos have established themselves as one of the most prolific and in-demand DJ-producer duos in the UK. They’ve performed at standout venues such as London’s iconic Printworks, CRSSD (USA), Ushuaia (Ibiza), and supported the likes of Calvin Harris, and Rudimental. Furthermore, they’ve already released a wealth of records of the years with their most notable single ‘Promise’ picking up overwhelming support and smashing it’s way through 6.5M+ streams to date. Furthermore, Illyus & Barrientos have graced the playlists of internationally recognised radio stations Kiss FM UK,Capital Dance and BBC Radio 1 as well as hosting a number of shows on Kiss FM UK.

Glasgow has always been a city which has produced some of the best underground 
talent in the electronic music scene and DJ/ Producer Hyslop is the next name emerging 
from this talent-laden city.

No stranger to the DJ booth, Hyslop has been playing in and around Glasgow for well 
over a decade, finally deciding to make the crossover into production in 2018. Coming 
from a DJ-ing background, his tracks are very much influenced by the dance floor and 
this can be heard in his high-octane house releases. 

His debut release, ‘Bucky’s Disco’ came out in 2019 and reached number 4 in the 
Traxsource top 100 house chart. He then went onto release tracks with labels such as 
Glasgow Underground, BigBeat/ Atlantic records, Let There Be House Records, Blockhead recordings, BMKLTSCH RCRDS and Vivifier records, gaining support from the likes of Claptone, Illyus & Barrientos, Todd terry, Rodger Sanchez, Mark Knight, Steve Lawler, Patrick Topping, Sam Divine and Simon Dunmore to name just a few.

2021 seen Hyslop release on Dvine Sounds gaining a Beatport house top 10 and No2 in the Traxsource Top 10. Sam Divine named him as an artist to Dominate in 2022 and an early release in Jan 22 on Berlin based Mother Recordings backs up Sam’s theory that this producer is in for a hot year!

Thanks to his impressive knowledge of house music and carefully curated DJ sets, Kieran Apter has risen through Edinburgh’s underground to become one of Scotland’s most exciting talents. Since founding esteemed club night, Tweak_, in 2015, where he warmed up for Mano Le Tough, Seth Troxler, Moodymann, San Proper, Fort Romeau, Dorisburg and more, he has since elevated his profile to play across landmark European venues such as Wire Club Leeds, Sisyphos Berlin and Night Tales in London. 

Raised in a musical household, with his father playing in various bands, Kieran’s early musical explorations ranged from rock to samba, and he developed a love for hip hop in his early teenage years. From a young age, Kieran would make the journey from his rural hometown of West Calder to Edinburgh, indulging himself in all the city had to offer, heading to raves and falling in love with dance music while still in school. After moving to the city when he was 18, he soon became a regular face on Edinburgh’s underground scene. 

It's this exposure to music that has given Kieran’s productions the sound that DJ Mag recently described as “warm, cosmic and deeply emotional”. He’s come a long way from his early ‘All I Want’ EP, that found its way into the sets of Dixon, Rampa, &ME and Andhim, and aired by both Pete Tong and B.Traits on their BBC Radio 1 shows. These days, Kieran’s output continues to grow, with high-profile gigs and an acclaimed Boiler Room for FLY Club at Cabaret Voltaire, as well as starting an independent record label showcasing his work and the work of various friends and artists who share the same love for quality underground dance music. His label, CB90 Dance Recordings, is a passion-driven project, inspired by youth culture and a deep-rooted heritage of dance music in Scotland. So far, releases include the likes of Man Power, Brain Dancing, Anthony Georges Patrice, as well as his own productions, which touch on house, techno and acid. 

Kieran’s ability to seamlessly flit between genres while offering profound and thoughtful components in each track make his records as suited to the dancefloor as solo listening. Consistently receiving DJ support from artists such as &ME, Butch, Theo Kottis, Konstantin Sibbold, Jennifer Cardini and Sean Johnston have meant his records soundtrack dancefloors at clubs like Panorama Bar, DC-10, and Subclub. 

In the last 18 months, Kieran’s music has gone on to receive multiple plays on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Scotland, becoming a regular feature and gaining support from the BBC Introducing programme. He holds residencies at both Crèche in London, run by Alexis Raphael, and Pleasure at Cabaret Voltaire alongside Theo Kottis, Alien Communications, IDA and more. He also opened the Boiler Room Stage at last year’s FLY OPEN AIR festival. 

With a busy release schedule taking us up to 2024, Kieran has set himself up well for an exciting future.
